Claim that today's guards couldn't transition to an era where Mark Price and Latrell Sprewell made 1st-team All-NBA. :russ:

MJ hardly ever had a meaningful game where he was up against an athletic defender his size who was elite at defense. All the great perimeter defenders in his era were both smaller and less athletic than he was. I mean, the Bulls even said once that the Blazers were a tough matchup just cause their guards had length, and Porter/Drexler had terrible defensive IQ.

In this era there are a TON of big swing players who can play elite defense. Think of the guys who have played in the last 15 years: Kawhi, PG13, Iggy, Bron, Butler, Klay, Anunoby, Middleton, Thybulle, Covington, Gordon, Roberson, Butler, Thabo, Batum, Deng, Ariza, Kobe, Battier, Marion, Artest, Bowen, Prince. Every single one of those guys is longer than MJ and can play elite defense. I'm sure I'm forgetting plenty - and not even counting guys like Marcus Smart, Dejonte Murray, Tony Allen who are slightly smaller but play big, or 4/5s like Tucker, Draymond, AD, Crowder, etc. who can legitimate play on the perimeter.

If Tatum, Brown, Lonzo, Aminu etc. were playing in the 1990s, they'd immediately be considered some of the best matchups to guard MJ. Would they even be top-10 or top-15 in that category today?

i mean this nikka talk like Jordan didn't play against Scottie in every practice every damn day for over 10 years where every damn bulls says it's much more intense in the practice than a real game. a conveniently doesn't grasp the fact taller and longer cat can't guard jordan at all because he's first step is just way too quick.

Scottie would be a great defensive matchup for MJ compared to the players that actually faced him in the 1990s.....tell me which meaningful game that happened in again? :russ:

Did you legit not watch a single postseason game in the 1990s? :ohhh:

You didn't see the Jazz put Byron Russell on MJ?

You didn't see the Pacers put Derrick McKey on MJ?

You didn't see the Knicks didn't put Anthony Mason on MJ?

You didn't see the Magic didn't put Nick Anderson on MJ?

You didn't see the Blazers didn't put Clyde Drexler on MJ?

Who can say with a straight face that those were better defenders than the 35 modern guys I named?

All five of those guys are longer than MJ and they all spent significant time guarding him in critical, difficult playoff series. Whenever a team had a longer defender that they could use on MJ, they used them. The difference between now and then is that the guys I named are FAR better defensively than any of those five guys or anyone else their height.

You wanna claim that Kawhi and Iggy and Butler are too slow for MJ's first step when Bryon fukking Russell was the man for Utah. :mjlol::mjlol::mjlol:

Or do you think that Jeff Hornacek, Reggie Miller, Chris Mullin, Penny Hardaway, Dennis Scott, John Starks, Dan Majerle, Richard Dumas, and Terry Porter were better options? :laff:

IS MAKING EVERY SHOT WORTH
2 PTS FOR THE 1ST THREE QUARTERS
OF THE GAME,

So Cal
NBA will be even more popular in the next ten years. When the younger generation(GenZ) who grew up watching 3 pointers, become older. The decline is only happening now because old heads(older millennials and younger gen x demographic) are the disgruntled ones. The league is in transition and it isn’t marketed to old heads and 90s nostalgia ppl like us. And I’m fine with that. Old heads should go watch TVLand or TvOne or something.

You're not wrong but Im 22 and lived 00s basketball shyt was piff. I don't watch anymore since KD joined GSW. Came back to see Bron win it for Kobe. But after Bron gone unless the Spurs could win another for Pop I thoroughly will never opt to watch a game again

i will never stop saying the only solution is to make dunks worth 3 points.

restore excitement to the game. :wow:
This is the solution.

3s are fine. Farther shot. But reward inside play.

Highlights of dunks/blocks/flubbs >> repeated 3 pointers.

Cruisin’
The 15yr olds of today aren’t gonna care about how “it used to be” back in the 90s and 80s. MJs name will still be a household name for many generations, but only because players like him transcend eras. And because of the shoes. I’m sure many of the GenZ will respect Kobe, Bron and 00s and 90s ball, the same way we respect Bill Russell, Kareem, Wilt, etc. But youngsters of today won’t lament the new NBA nor will they whine over missing the old days that they never lived. We tend to be narcissistic, thinking that the future of the NBA will depend on us and our generation, when it’s in fact the youngsters of today who are going to be the ones who will dictate the popularity of the NBA going forward. And to them, ball movement, roll player elevation and the 3 ball are just as exciting as the low scoring grind out games of the 00s and 90s. There’s gonna come a point where our opinions(we millennials and GenX) won’t matter anymore. And that’s when Adam Silver will continue to rake in the money. Because it won’t be y’all’s money keeping the league afloat. It’s gonna be the youngsters and those overseas who love the game, keeping the league afloat. The game will go on without you and me.

3BA :blessed:

Too many talented players now. Hard to play defense when everyone can score now.

In the 90's, teams had only 1 scorer maybe 2 and the rest was just role players with no scoring ability. Now role players can shoot and just goons
