A's need a new ballpark and will get one.

Rays are surprising though because they're playing well and that yankees series was pretty fire. Tampa is definitely a football town through and through I don't they give a damn about the Rays and they've only been to one world series I think.

1. The Rays play in South Florida and they mostly care about football, hell, HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL, more than baseball. There's sunshine and 100 things to do besides watch baseball.

2. The Oakland A's are hamstrung by the San Francisco Giants who are making it impossible for the A's to move to San Jose and a better stadium. Plus the Coliseum is an awful place to watch baseball.

3. It's the NBA and NHL playoffs. I'm sure that contributed a little.

Rays fukked up having a dome in Florida. I'd go to the games if I was still in the area, but it's not a good market for baseball

Rays aren't in South Florida. They're up in Tampa, which is a top ten city for hockey attendance of all things. The problem for the Rays is the stadium. The Trop is a horrible place to be, and in Tampa traffic (which is awful) can be an hour drive away from Tampa proper.

It's right outside of St. Pete, which is Tampa's smaller, more laid back, more I guess...bohemian cousin. St. Pete is a chill arts and culture city. The team needs a move to Downtown Tampa or Downtown Orlando to prosper. No amount of success will fix their location issue. Just like the Panthers.

Both teams are cheap and don't have new swagged out stadiums to boost revenue. Not surprising.

As for the O's, they stay having issues drawing unless the Yankees and Red Sox go there.

What makes it crazier is that their TV ratings are really good, so it just means fans are shook to go to the ballpark.
