My little sister passed from this 2 and a half yrs ago :mjcry:

Hope he ok, it's good thing they caught it and were able to get him to a hospital...

My father died from this, while he was in the hospital being treated a different issue. He was only 44.

Damn Jerome Kersey just died from this...

:to:

My Uncle who was like another father to me died from a PE in '10. Was never really sick a day in his life, came back from the movie on a Saturday night complaining of back pain and was dead Monday morning.

I hope its just the flu with Bosh, but the fact that he had a calf injury is what worries me.. Clots usually form in the legs before they travel to the lungs...

Not to derail, but to ALL of those who dapped or sent condolences, I appreciate yall for real. Thanks brehs. I lost 2 close friends this past week, one to asthma and the other one died due to this same thing Bosh has, both were under 40. Thanks again.

Very sorry to hear about that brehs (and anyone else I may have missed, quote feature is tripping on my phone) losing a loved one is tough
:mjcry:

It's great to know of the survivor stories posted on a positive note.

I almost died from this. It's a really awful experience mentally & physically.

Athletes fly so much, which is a huge risk factor, so I'm not surprised when this happens.

How does a young adult that is a professional athlete get this? Crazy

Scary....Get well soon.

It could be any reason. Inactivity from staying in one place (which happens when flying), dehydration, smoking or being around smoke, some people have more of a tendency to clot, etc. Being an athlete doesn't mean you can't get blood clots.

As I said in the Jerome Kersey thread, there really needs to be more awareness about this. ANYBODY CAN GET IT. It doesn't matter if your a young athlete.

I learned so much from this. I never knew this suddenly could happen to someone healthy.

Clots in the lungs...:wow:

:salute:

I'm a clinical pharmacist in the hospital and as you know we make everyone has some sort of DVT/PE prophylaxis unless they're really ambulatory whether it's medicine like lovenox or heparin or compression stockings.

Bosh will probably be on something like Xarelto or Pradaxa after this he got too much money for them to put him on warfarin which requires INR tests and probably a bridge with Lovenox until his INR was therapeutic.

Yep. It's pretty much no awareness about this unless it happens to you or someone close to you. Definitely scary to go through cause you go from feeling healthy to being told you have something life threatening in an instant.
