I'm a medical student (MS1) and while it's easy to feel like your doc is lazy, that a gross oversimplification for most.
You definitely have your share of negligent attendings that make you feel like poultry on an assembly line, but some tests can't be performed due insurance conflicts and other things are simply misdiagnosed as a consequence of that being a human standing across from you.
In the case of the latter, I won't make excuses for incompetence because when your loved ones life is on the line, none of that will matter to you.
I'll go further and admit that there is a serious issue with the quality treatment of minorities in medicine that simply does not measure up to the treatment of the majority. The country's history speaks for itself.
Nowhere near as thorough at times and a recent, high profile example we all can recall is Dallas last year with the black Ebola patient who had traveled from afflicted soil and was sent home from the hospital with little to no precautions - when the hysteria of the epidemic was at its' peak.
In that case, IIRC, I believe the nurse was at fault for not properly taking the patients history into consideration, but it still was gross negligence that saw the family win out a hefty sum as a result.
More importantly, her negligence still falls on the lap of the attending presiding over her. Everyone looked bad there, and rightfully so.
That's why I think it's important that we get more black men & women in nursing and medicine, especially in medicine.
On average, even if it's subconsciously, no one is going to be as thorough and care for you like your own people.
I hope Bosh pulls through.

Unfortunately this gets amplified with black patients. The NY times had a story about doctors misdiagnosing and giving lower doses of pain meds to black patients. I had an uncle die recently of a respiratory disease and his treatment seemed shoddy at best. Luckily Bosh has the money to avoid that and get the best treatment.
My nikka! This is what pisses me off when people talk about racism being called a ******. Naw its having lower intergenrational family wealth , lower access to good health care, higher chances of either being shot or in jail. That to me is what we should be rioting about every single time. Just this week a study came out that middle aged blacks are less prepared for retirement that a white fresh out of school. Are you fukking kidding me ....

Anyhows peace to bosh man I wish him a speedy recovery but its looking like 2015-2016

This shyt is serious, especially for a pro athlete... his endurance could be greatly affected.
For his career sake, he'd better hope for a simple anticoagulation treatment (without surgery):mjcry:

And I was shytting on bosh for playing soft the last month. Dude has been playing timid as hell. He refused to get into the post and when he did he looked weak and slow as shyt. Just didn't make sense with how he came out beasting at the beginning of the season. This coulda been taking a big toll on his body for a while.

From everything I've read multiple clots in the lungs is some life altering shyt. One...ok... but two...one on each lung. This doesn't look promising for his career. This could be some genetic shyt. He might just have to call it a wrap and enjoy the rest of his life. All the training and plane fights could only put him at risk for future complications. but next time he might not be lucky enough to survive it. This is fukked up:wow::to:

The cause of it is what is important. It could just be from a simple injury that caused him to clot, but if its because of some genetic problem/autoimmune then hes done in the nba.

Life is short brehs just because your young doesn't mean anything. Status doesn't mean anything money doesn't mean anything. Remember bobs Marley last words "money can't buy life"

I wish bosh a speedy recover and long life

This. I was putting an Ikea chair together in the living room...then the next thing I know I'm laid up in the hospital for 3 weeks. So hopped up on drugs I had no recollection of what happened during those 3 weeks. Had to learn how to walk again. Luckily I made a full recovery...but some folk aren't that lucky. Anyone can get got and it can happen at any time. Speedy recovery to Chris.
