There's no real money in music unless you're a string puller or one of the 70 or some mainstream artists across the entire domestic music spectrum that are really eating.

Its such a waste of time and energy I feel bad whenever I see an aspiring artist..ups hiring may actually be a better prospect for most of them.

In Chris case he's fine till he falls off. We've seen this movie before.

If an artist doing it strictly for the money, yea they should just quit

But those who do it out of Love would gladly accept whatever money they do make from music

I’d rather make 100k/year as a rapper than 500k a year at a job :unimpressed:

Chris brown was the record labels response to Usher. Anytime an act becomes “huge” a copy cat is pushed. It happened with the Jackson 5 and new edition. Even Ciara benefited from the success of confessions. Rihanna was a response to Beyoncé. “Run It” came out a year after “Yeah”
I guess so. I guess CB didn't have enough of his own identity. Heck, that's part of why Usher himself declined drastically after Confessions: he perfected the R&B formula, but didn't really change it.
I think CB is bigger than he would've been otherwise.

He was being molded aa a goody 2 shoes safe next coming of MJ. He would've tried to be hard with age, but the label would've pushed him softer and fans would've saw his image as corny. He wouldn't have nearly the amount of features and releases he's had now.

That Rihanna thing ruined him initially, but his comeback made him have to basically be independent for himself.

I can see what you mean.
I actually think what killed CB's mainstream appeal for good was CB acting a fool & constant controversies after the F.A.M.E. album era. Because if you go look back at all the promo he did during the F.A.M.E. album era it looks like he was welcomed back into the mainstream. But by the next album, "Fortune", CB wasn't getting the same type of promotion anymore.

Too much fukkery indeed. Don't forget the Karreuche incident. I also think his music got too "adult"-ish too quickly. as well. It was kind of a stark contrast to his more subtle themes in in his earlier albums. He should have been more gradual. Even I was stunned at the uptick on profanity in his songs as a kid - I wasn't used to it from him.
Yeah breh, this is all true and common sense.

But my point is his longevity. Without the rihanna incident, he would've eventually tried to be hard, but it would've been seen as a joke.

Think about Usher, when he tried to switch his lane in the late 00s, ppl weren't feeling it, so he tried to do the edm stuff, he's been mostly downhill since bc he can't catch an authentic lane anymore .

Chris Browns career would have peaked higher without the incident, but that peak would've been a decade ago and he wouldn't be all over the radio like he is now

Yeah, it's the formula thing. Usher, CB, etc. They didn't evolve RnB, they were just really good at it. So it's not surprise that Usher declined.

I Think Brown was ultimately right to go in a more edgier hip hop direction. Without the Rihanna incident, he could have just done a gradual shift over to that lane.

You know
:mjlol:
How is he a failed Usher replacement when Usher is clamoring to be on Chris Brown songs? And chris outshines Usher on their features.

Usher has been chasing Chris Browns lane for a decade and can't catch it. People would rather Usher go back to Confession era and be a singer rather than what he's tried to do
Be delusional Brehs :mjlol:. Usher being on the track does more for CB. :mjlol: In the long run. Lol At CB having vocals better than usher on”new flame@. Get out of your bias and delusions breh :mjlol:. Chris brown ain’t touching his success

I don't see a reason why he would fizzle as fast if the incident wouldn't have happened.

His natural progression as an artist was always gonna lead to more mature content in his music.

The reason why you still hear chris on the radio is because he's a great singles artists.

Chris Brown has kept a hit on the radio since 2014. He ain’t the biggest act in the world but he’s always been musically relevant in the space in he’s in.

Yes
Everybody gets more mature and edgy, BUT Justin Bieber is a grown ass man now and he doesn't use the language and subject matter in his songs as Chris brown. Timberlake either. They can't do that bc it's not authentic

That one song is more relevant than Chris brown
aight you trolling.

Just bc you don’t like an artist, it doesn’t discredit their success.

I don’t like The Weeknd. I think his voice is whiny and he can’t sing without whatever addictive the sound engineer lays on his voice…that doesn’t make me stupid to the fact that he’s the hottest R/B act in the game.

If CB and Mario both did a concert in Atlanta who u think would sell out faster? I actually bet that Mario would have to cancel his concert due to “unforeseeable circumstances”

Just because a nikka have a song on radio or tv 24/7 doesn’t mean he or she getting paid

TLC sold 15 million albums for one album and only got $30,000 a piece and a jeep

tribe called quest went platinum on one album and got $90,000 to split…

a lot of these nikkas don’t own they publishing or masters in which ray Charles and James brown told nikkas over 50 years ago to do

Chris only started getting explicit with the language because that's what he chose to do.

It really doesn't have anything to do with being authentic because an artist can make mature music without it.

Bieber basically makes diet chris brown music.
