It's not an "emotional" argument at all. If you want to be the leader and diminish the future earning potential for your spouse then you need to pay up. You wouldn't be able to do that "grinding" without someone taking care of the home. This goes for either gender in that position. Who is going to hire a person with a 20 year employment gap on their resume in this or any economy? Now, let's be real here 99% of you will NEVER go through this as your partner will be working and making JUST as much as you all while still performing a majority of the domestic duties . You want to lead, then you get to provide too.

I think she should get 20 years worth of her original, pre-tax salary, adjusted for inflation, cost of living in the city, and bonuses.
The children should get child support equal to 1/2 of what it cost to maintain their standard of living, if Chris really does want 50-50 custody.
I don't think she should get earnings from his comedy, unless someone can calculate the earnings from each stand up and divide it by the time taken up by marriage jokes (ex. 122 min long standup special, 2.5 minutes of marriage jokes, she should earn 2% of earnings from that standup, and so on).

Especially since "stay at home mother" of an 11 and 13 year old is not a real job, if they're in school and do any extra-curricular activities. I have doubts she's mothering like Amy Chua.

One, nobody knows how things went down in that marriage. Two, no one is rallying behind him. What we're saying is how come divorce is an automatic 50% check for any woman married to any man of any level of income? ESPECIALLY if you didn't have the potential to make what he was making. I can understand some actress like Jennifer Garner trying to get 1/2 because she took time off from a Hollywood career to raise kids.
