They keep the thunder on the perimeter fringes. Effectively boxing them out of prime scoring areas

They’re also mobile and have high basketball IQ on the flour. Great situational and positional awareness as a team. They have size, length and reach too.

Spurs are a hard and physical team to play against because they get all the rebounds and effectively protect/defend the paint , post, midrange very well. They don’t give teams time and space to make plays and they can physically bully and deny other teams within the limits of the rulebook, on some borderline shyt with being dirty or obvious.

OKC is a finesse team but they’re Not that great/comfortable at perimeter playmakimg/offense and three point shooting. Their comfort zone/bread and butter is inside offense, breakaway offense, and rim scoring. Against teams like San Antonio, Shai can still draw fouls and get free throws but he can’t make plays inside, score in the paint, drive to the net and shoot/score from the midrange as much as he wants to.
spurs have arguably the best duo at the #5 position (big/center/power forward)in the league . Wemby and kornet. Maybe Only the Knicks, OKC, and Denver come close to them with KAT and Robinson, holmgren and hartenstein, and Jokic and Gordon in that order. Then it’s a drop off.

Under the old CBA, the Celtics would have found a way to keep Luke kornet on their roster. But he wanted to get a big bag of money in free agency last summer after all these years, he was patient enough and it was time for him to finally get paid anyway.
