Also yeah man I'm very anti double albums because there is a compromise with quality with regards to filler, so LAD didn't pass the first test to be deemed a classic. Neither did AEOM for me. Wu Forever is different because it is GOAT.

I've had to do a lot of homework to get to my level of understanding today, I admit that. Mos Def was the complete package for the 'thinking brotha' rapper. Said smart shyt, looked good, ladies loved him, beats were hard, high charisma that appealed to underground and a bit of mainstream, and you couldn't front on dude's skills. Him falling off almost singlehandedly killed the entire conscious rap movement.

this...it was really hard trying to get into mos's stuff after BOBS and i gave those a thorough listen..although the amerigo cazaway mashup albums with marvin gaye were dope

anyway more so than that, the other tracks aren't standout, at least not all. There's a lot of album tracks just there to serve their purpose imo. Very few tracks blew me away like that.

LAD i do think is classic but it had some filler for real..the ones i bolded are true definition of filler..another is just a terrible song all around and i cringed when puff resurrected that nasty boy vocal for that duets bullshyt..the other songs you mentioned are dope..not filler...although i can do without puff on the world is filled..also going back to cali never worked for me...out of all the times ive heard the more bounce sample flipped..that one was not hittin and big's verses were on that generic/average level

true..because there are filler songs on most double albums that are obvious but arent bad per se..i compared to a double album that i thought had crazy filler plus being average like blueprint 2, LAD wasnt that bad

oh yeah LAD has some of the most minimal filler I've seen, along with top tier double disc albums like AEOM and Wu Forever. Thing is, I find it hard to rate these albums as classic when in the same thread I've rated Ready to Die a classic, which pretty much has no filler and is of exceptional quality.

I mean I'm going by my own definition of classic obviously, and the first test it has to pass is the test of quality, which it fails in imo. Still a dope album, and obviously has influence, relevance and all the rest of it.
