Rewatched Brockmire, a comedy on IFC from 2017-20

It’s a fun show starring Hank Azaria as the degenerate Brockmire, who disappeared for 10 years after having a meltdown on air caused by his wife’s infidelity. After spending a decade in Asia doing all kinds of drugs and sleeping with countless prostitutes, he tries to make a comeback in the USA as a broadcaster.

The show maintains a dirty sense of humor while shifting into more serious territory such as addiction, intergenerational trauma from child abuse, cancer, etc….The last season takes a wild turn as there is a time jump and then it goes into more of apocalyptic sci-fi. This happened to took place right when COVID hit. It didn’t like this season at first, but I appreciated it more on second watch.

Joe Buck is in a few episodes and is pretty funny. Bob Costas is also in a couple of episodes, talking about his pink eye.

I recommend it if you like baseball and/or irreverent humor

She represents the audience. We are her, trying the figure out what the fukk is really going on. The onion layers get peeled back with questions she asks and what she sees.
I know what the intention was there. Just didn’t vibe with it.

fukkin’ classic. Top 3 Bond for me. Best Bond score. Best Bond woman. Best Bond introduction. Barry crushing the score so hard that its theme doesn’t necessitate any lyrics. Grinned like a mf hearing it pop back up in No Time to Die. Hypnotic while heartbreaking at the same time, and some of those shots at Piz Gloria. :ohlawd:

The hand-to-hand combat pops out even if Lazenby looks like fukkin’ Gumby while doing so. Connery would’ve been interesting here but I don’t see him nailing those tender, emotional moments in the fashion Lazenby did. Crazy this was his first acting gig ever.

So since Spike is gonna be doing a remake and the original got re-released over here I decided to check this one out knowing Kurosawa is a legend. Pretty straghtforward story, was surprised by the comic parts here and there, overall enjoyed it but I think it might take some better understanding of technical aspects of movie making to appreciate even more, as I see that it's considered a classic.

damn I haven't seen this since it hit DVD. Jada Pinkett was bad as hell in her prime. :wow:

Love the digital cinematography, L.A. always been the perfect setting for these type of gritty crime thrillers. I forgot a lot of the plot so it legit shocked me when
Mark Ruffalo's character got clapped outside the club

The writing does get a bit wonky at times and that ending...smh. Still a dumb ass ending. With his eyes closed, too! :mjlol:If this was a European film the ending would have been darker. Still a solid 8/10. Tom Cruise needs to retire Mission Impossible and do one more banger like this.

Predator part 1
I know the word "classic" is thrown around but the first Predator is a classic

as a matter of fact the first Terminator was a classic

and the thing that makes it more ill is Arnold Schwarzenegger was the villain in The first Terminator, and the hero in the first Predator

Amazes me how layered this is with its social commentary yet still manages to wrap things back around in a fun and wholesome way. Every time. Wouldn’t be shocked if the sequel turns out darker despite the little goofy teaser they rolled out, lol.

The fukkin’ DMV bit with them sloths. :dead:
