Come help me settle an argument.. Reggie Miller VS Brandon Roy

Too bad basketball is a team sport.

We really going to act like Reggie was out there carrying team's on his back? Dude was averaging 18 points.

He was. Those Pacers offenses were driven by his efficient scoring and gravity.

He did more to help his team than Adrian Dantley who averaged 30 on 50% in his prime

You're acting like Reggie Miller was a superstar carrying those teams. In reality, those Pacers teams were an ensemble of good players who complemented each other well (kind of like the 2004 Pistons). They didn't rely on Reggie to carry them (and he wasn't capable of carrying a team by himself game in and game out like true superstars).


Reggie made 5 all-star appearances in 18 seasons. He never made the All-NBA first or second team, ever.

This is completely wrong, they did rely on him to carry in the playoffs. That's the best thing about Reggie - he stepped his game up on the big stage.

All star appearances are a crappy way to evaluate players. Joe Johnson has 7.

Reggie gets a bad rap on this board for being overrated (from myself included), but one often overlooked aspect of his game is how dominant he was offensively without being ball-dominant (and therefore how much defensive attention he dragged away from his teammates; gravity) - one of very few players during his era - which in effect added a whole new dimension to the offenses he played in because his teammates didn't need to curtail their games to work around him. Like they typically would with other ball-dominant stars.
