He's kind of right though. There are plenty of cloud providers and Amazon in particular is BETTER than Azure in regard to proliferation. All of these cloud services can and eventually will be widely used for gaming purposes. MS has a leg up in that it's already more integrated in several ways but that doesn't mean MS has something that can't be replicated on other platforms.

nikka, all games have dedicated servers available to them regardless of platform. It's just a matter of the developer/publisher is willing to pay for them. MS isn't providing dedicated servers for free.

You really need to read up on Azure this is not a new system and it takes years and billions of dollars set this system up world wide. Azure has data centers all over the world. You really don't know what you are talking about.

You do realize "Amazon Web Services" is bigger than "Windows Azure" and Google Cloud/App engine is not far behind?

& dedicated servers are overrated, black ops 2 on ps3 don't use dedicated servers (to my knowledge) and I honest to god haven't lagged once since I bought the game in November of last year

Microsoft has said dedicated servers will be available for all games. They can't say that all games WILL have them because its ultimately up to devs. To this point all announced Xbox one games use dedicated servers.

Sony is just not talking about it, they also aren't talking about what upgrades are being made to PSN to justify the charge for online play. The ps4 flagship exclusive shooter does not have dedicated servers. I think that gives you your answer for dedicated servers on ps4. Which is why Sony isnt talking about it.

3cepts take silence as "well, we still got a shot " So until the PS5 drops they'll be like "I know sony is gonna implement snap functionality, I just know it!!!

Well the only shooter that matters on PS4 this holiday season has dedicated servers and that's Battlefield 4. The only game that actually needs dedicated servers for me is NBA 2k. I've played that game on Xbox live for years and still run into unbelievable lag.

Bruh, NBAS2K on XB1 will be lag free guaranteed. This thread isn't about a shooter, its about the servers games will run on. Team-up mode will finally work on XB1. PS4/4/360, it will play the same as its always has. Tru Story, because of what this thread is about

All games will have it (unless they didn't need to use it) the cloud automatically scales its servers to match what is needed. Some of us have known this for months

Yes, that is the name of the 300,000 servers reserved for XB1 ONLY. PC/Xbox360 can't even use those servers. Thunderhead, go look that up. Then you'll see your post is beneath your perceived standards

It means that games will run smooth when playing online for xbox, and laggy on PS4.
For some games, the difference will be night and day. Others, not really noticeable. But all major games?
Sports games? FPS games? Basically any online game will play better on xbox. Thats already the case, but that gap will grow next gen because of this
