I haven't seen anything suggesting the teacher got into a shouting match with this girl. And her being removed from the class didn't give her a feeling of justification. The fact that she refused to follow the authority figures present multiple times already proved that she felt justified in her actions well before the cop showed up.

Suspension is a punishment applied AFTER the fact. A teacher cannot and should not be reasonably expected to allow students to behave however they see fit while the behavior is occurring. Teachers are taught to phone for assistance to have a student removed from a class if they don't comply with their instructions. It prevents learning, encourages repeat offenses, and undermines the authority of the teacher if they simply allow it to continue, hoping the student just "makes an ass of themselves" instead.

I agree with this... but lets not forget that we are dealing with children here. With that being said, non compliance from a child shouldn't have yielded corrective tactics that are reserved criminals in a precinct..

Do you think the argument can be made that the way the cop extradited from her from the class was just as disruptive as her prior behavior...?

Go read up on ODD. Chokeslamming a kid is not a reasonable disciplinary action.

And as for your second paragraph. Had the adults made good decisions no one would care how she felt.

Why are you ignoring the fact that I literally do this sh*t for a living? You keep telling me to read up on subjects and behaviors that years of employment in public education, social services, and mental health (as a licensed nurse dealing with youth and adolescents), have already shown me. Don't confuse me with some of these other idiots that like to spout off their opinions with zero experience, first hand or otherwise, are doing because they happen to be bored for the moment.

She wasn't slammed because she defied authority. She was slammed because her actions required her to be physically removed. We can debate how many staff present would have made the physical removal appear less violent, but that's not what you're doing here.

Yeah he went overboard plus reports say she was chewing gum so that cop could've killed her by grabbing her from behind like that and slamming her on the floor causing her to choke on her gum

in all my years in high School I can't ever recall our resource officer ever stepping into a classroom (I was in) , a random administrator was normally well enough, why did this punk ass school call for a resource cop over some damn bubblegum :what::what::what::what:
Right, ours was just a loud mouth who tried to flirt with everyone's momma. Only time I saw him put his hands on someone was to break up a fight.

I'll google it for you

Changing the oppositional behavior.
The first step to changing the oppositional behavior is to remove the payoff. The first payoff to deal with is the emotional response of the parent. Find out what your buttons are and protect them from assault. Be determined to keep your cool even in the heat of battle. The parent must assume control of the interaction and not allow the child to lead them to distraction. Most of our responses of anger are learned the same way the oppositional child learns his/her behavior, by using the anger as an aversive consequence to get the results we want.

Cop broke the first rule and only reinforced the behavior. I thought you were an expert on this :usure:

What actions required her to be removed right at that moment?

No the fukk they didn't. It's not binary like that. There's levels to this policing shyt and that isn't the only way to deal with non aggression. She's a student in a normal school I'm assuming, not a patient in some sort of mental institute. She could have been reasoned with and should have been pulled aside and talked to.

p*ssy ass teacher could have gone on with class while the cop talked to her. He didn't need to put one finger on her at all.

This is also ignoring his history of slamming mother fukkers around the school.

I gotta say, I'm impressed with the turn this thread made. Intelligent, thought out discourse and debate. :leon:

Yeah, I wonder who was the catalyst for that. :sas1:

There's actually dudes in here that were negging me and calling me a cac that are now trying to hop back in here after I turned the discussion into a serious exchange, flexing like they're Cornel West and wanna to be taken seriously now.:heh:

If he was psychologically damaged then perhaps he should have taken some time off.

Or is it acceptable for cops to abuse their authority simply because they were having a bad day?
Exactly they need to start making these cops get mandatory psych evaluations because their is no excuse for this bullshyt. Aint nobody force his ass to become a cop, he signed up for that shyt so him using his position and authority as an outlet for whatever frustrations and instabilities he has is wrong. point blank period!

Before I switched careers and went into healthcare, I taught at public schools. Family has a long history in public education. I also worked for years in child group homes with kids with behavioral and criminal backgrounds. I was REQUIRED to study child psychology. I still work in mental health part time. You are attempting to equate the equivalent of a child crying and stomping because they want ice cream for dinner to a teenager who is displaying clear signs of ODD. There is a clinical difference between boundary testing and defiance. You prevent the former by not allowing the latter.

And all due respect my man, but who gives a flying fukk if "she thought the discipline was unreasonable"? The teacher is in the middle of conducting class, you don't get to decide as a student whether or not what they tell you to do is unreasonable or not. I sincerely hope you're not offering that as justification for her behavior.

And no, no seeds on my end.

This was all I really needed to read.....you're the type to work with kids on an 8-10 hour bases....when you become a parent there is no chill....when you have children of your own one day maybe you will understand what some of us are trying to convey to you....
