Let me know when this applies to school districts across the country. The whole country.

My heart sank when we as parents got mass emails outlining back-to-school procedures And in the second line it read "Masks are strongly recommended. I know exactly what that means, and I shouldn't have to tell anyone here what 'strongly recommended' means. Granted this is in Tulsa, OK, and while this is fukking Oklahoma, they at least made it to where masks were a requirement last school year for the kids.

Two days in there is an episode in our daughter's second grade class and here we are back home for a bit, although they said and 'attendance is optional for your students during this time'.... OPTIONAL?!!?

This year is going to be a TRAINWRECK. This is complete negligence

He still has that smug irony during the interview but my guess is as a covid-denier, he didn't see how bleak his outlook actually was.

If someone gave me 50/50 odds that a vaccine would stop me getting Covid, I would take that in a heartbeat. And that would have nothing to do with the increased protection if you caught it.

Yeah, it's ridiculous, and the vaccine roll-out had been shambolic. Having been given the luckiest of hands throughout the whole pandemic, the messaging around getting vaccinated has been awful, and now here we are.

I will say that the population in general has been very ambivalent about getting vaccinated, as we've had pretty much no covid for the best part of the last year, except for what has been brought into the country, but then we got hit by the Delta variant, and it feels as if New South Wales will be in lockdown until Christmas. The case numbers are relatively low, though. We're at 750 - 800 new cases per day, and deaths & hospitalisations remain low.

Too bad you got influential advisers like Andrew Bogut speaking against it

Apparently a large segment of society are mentally unwell and are adverse to science. It seems to be a global problem....


All I can do is be thankful everyday that my family doesn't play these games and try to look out for my community as best as possible.

One thing that really hasn't sat well with me living in the city is how bad it hit here originally and the rest of the country just went welp no big deal and allowed it to play out over and over

I saw that he had said some shyt, but he's such a fukking wingnut that I didn't really want to kill any braincells by reading exactly what it was. Fortunately I don't think that he has enough of a profile to influence anyone who isn't already anti-lockdown & anti-vax, but if he manages to get some of the rugby / Aussie rules footballers to speak out then it might be a problem.

Most people over here have been well-behaved, and obeyed the various lockdown / masking rules. I'm sure that sections of the media will try to make the protests at the weekend seem like a big thing, but they really weren't. Whilst there is a creeping lockdown apathy, most people seem to understand that we're not deviating from them whilst case numbers are 'high' and that the percentage of vaccinated population is low. Most people seem to be happy to get vaccinated, and get back to normal as soon as possible, which will mean everyone not acting the c*nt.

I feel that we have been incredibly fortunate over here throughout the whole pandemic, and a lot of that is due to people not listening to the anti-lockdown / anti-mask / anti-vaccine shyt that's out there.
