"You could call this piracy. You could call it sanctions. The federal government is choking supply chains to states like it chokes supply chains to Iran and North Korea."

The NEJM has published a horrifying account of a health care executive trying to evade what appear to be mafia tactics by the federal government.

State data shows that New York is paying enormous markups for vital supplies, including almost $250,000 for an X-ray machine. Laws against price gouging usually don’t apply.

Sigh, think we about go through a third wave, this virus doesn't give up we got it down to single digits and then no new cases for a solid three days during the second wave. I believe than the bam out of a nowhere second-highest total of cases come back at it again.

Frustrating ain't even the word used to describe this.
It is designed to do that. Even after the lockdowns, we will be wearing masks well into 2021. We might even be locked down again before then.

breh who dropped that reddit link a few pages back had a great backdown

Its beyond infuriating that hostility to government, science and reason has led us to this point. These morons are equating their normal hostilities against the federal government to a fukking pandemic.

It’s one thing to be reckless with your life, it’s entirely another to be reckless with other people’s lives.

It’s sad that we have to share a country and society with these morons.

Some small businesses are done regardless of what action the government takes. It's going to be hard to do business with limits on foot traffic.

Plus there is no guarantee that people will just walk in. Wuhan Restaurants are having that problem now, because they fear the virus is still around.

It's going to be a battle to get back to critical mass as we had before. People will be skittish. There may be a chance that never really happens for 2 or 3 years. Things like restaurants that are packed to the brim, we may not see again for a long, long time.
