it's gonna be pretty interesting, and it depends on if he wins or loses in november

on the inside right, there's gonna be a lot of people who are embarrassed that they went along with trumpism and want to get back to moderate mike pence types. on the far right, they're gonna be calling for blood and want the republicans to run candidates that make trump look like mother teresa. hopefully the party tears itself apart

There's no going back to the Romneys or McCains. The party made its bed with Trump and anyone that's not a disciple will be called a RINO. It's obviously not going to be this year, but I can imagine a Centrist Party of some type will emerge over the next decade that will lure disenfranchised Moderate Republicans and Moderate Democrats.

On top of the worst econony ever. What else he can campaign on? Obama?

He is going to say it was unexpected. Once in a century. He inherited bad infrastructure from the previous administration but rebuilt it. He saved the country from the biggest threat since the civil war.

Will also let his nuttier followers shift the blame onto China / Bill Gates / WHO / etc

i hope so :yeshrug: i'd join it

have the remnants of the MAGA cult be one party, the centrists be the middle party, and the AOC communists be a third party. problem solved

Uncertain grounds
The seeds were set for the future in the 2010 Midterm Elections. The Tea Party popped up, and the Republicans saw them as the fuel for election victories. The 2012 victory of Barack made the Republicans lean more towards the Right, casting out any Moderates.

When Trump joined the election in 2015, he wiped out the entire Republican base. Jeb Bush and Kasich, the two more moderate of the candidates, were wiped out quickly. Marco Rubio was too young. Ted Cruz is just loathed in the Senate.

Its 2020, and as of now. Who is the Republican Party? Mitch McConnell is probably the only name who people will realize. Mitt Romney would never have the shot, because of one thing, their party appeals to the populace of uneducated, whites.

No matter how hard Republicans try to turn left, they are aligned themselves with a racial, xenophobic, uneducated base; short term gains with no long term prospects. It will be a split in the future with Democratic Socialists and Conservative Democrats, with Republicans either adapting Conservative Democrats, or the party being rejected by both and becoming a third party.

In terms of elections they can still win congressional seats, but in terms of presidential aspirations its basically over.

Good post but iirc kasich lasted longer than rubio and went to the convention

Sigh, think we about go through a third wave, this virus doesn't give up we got it down to single digits and then no new cases for a solid three days during the second wave. Bam out of a nowhere second-highest total of cases come back out of where.

Frustrating ain't even the word used to describe this.

Rubio had more delegates I believe, I thought Kasich was more moderate in comparison to Rubio I think, thus I was trying to explain how he was already out of the race more than Rubio; despite being in the actual race.

An Alabama family was turned away from a shelter because they did not have enough masks amid the coronavirus pandemic as dangerous storms that have left dozens killed raged through the area and even caused tornadoes in some spots.

“The guy actually opened the door, he motioned, do you have a mask? I held up my mask. I said I have one mask, I can put it on the child. He motioned no and shut the door," said a woman who tried to enter the shelter.

The family said they ran to their car in pouring rain, as a tornado traveled over nearby Boaz, Ala., WHNT reported.
