I'm moved to Taiwan from China last year. They did everything right lockdown fines, closed schools, closed business.

We reopened everything back up again virus said nope back again. The vaccine is the only way to get this taken care of and that is a year away at best.

How long did the shutdown last?

The fact that for our, or my, entire life, capitalism, money is pushed on us, and instilled in us, and than, it is just expected for people to just turn off the economy? Turn off what we have been told matters over everything? It's a pretty vicious irony, pandemics and money, and death. I probably do value money, materialism, and trade, upward mobility over people, but I don't see how anyone would expect anything different.

Bit of context we heard about the virus in mid-January we went into the Chinese new year( a Chinese holiday where everything shuts down for a week) this Chinese new year basically was a week and a half off. The government told everyone to stay their ass home and not to travel during the Chinese new year and they add another 2.5 weeks coming out of that. Schools were shut down island-wide and only essential businesses were left open.

I was at home for a month and a few days doing work. So the quarantine was for about a month. I told my employees we are shutting down for those 2.5 weeks plus the week they had for the Chinese New Year.

I did a lot of work and a lot of reading.

We came out of the quarantine business was super slow to pick back up. Was super pissed at the time but it was the correct move looking back.

But we are right back at square one again. Supermarket cleared out again. As we are going through a second wave again. One thing this has shown me that I really need to get into the supermarket franchise business. Going through this a second time is beyond stressful daylight has been snatched away very fast!

Yeah I figured the same thing. Until we get a vaccine it’s gonna come back which will take a year. But you can’t possibly shut sh1t down that long society would crumble so wtf do you do?

Test everyone and if the death rate is small because hopefully the strand here in the US is weak then resume business as usual but tell old and sick people to be careful until we get the vaccine by hopefully the winter?

fukk. So basically the only people with any sort of protection besides society locking down are those that have had it. And I also realize that to what extent and for how long is up in the air. Not to mention the possibility of multiple strains and mutations.
Is there any data out on reinfection rates? Hopefully once you go through it you become immune.

I remember a case or two of people testing positive, then negative and then coming up positive again. Hopefully that was just bad testing or an extreme outlier.
