"Ether" is a bunch of tall tales and and name-calling. In "Takeover" Jay Z broked down the career of Nas to a simple math problem (albeit one that applies to himself also)

You said you've been in this 10, I've been in it 5 - smarten up, Nas
4 albums in 10 years, nikka?I could divide
That's one every...let's say 2

2 of them shyts was due
1 was "nah," the other was Illmatic
That's a one-hot-album-every-10-year average

Show me one poignant line from "Ether" . . go ahead, I'll wait
"one was ehhh" isnt a fact :what: it did better commercially than RD which dropped the same year :what:

and i dont have to show you shyt, the tears speak for themselves :russ:

I love IWW but a lot of people try to act like this is an unfounded opinion when there are a lot of people out there who weren't feeling it or thought it was too commercial.

So you're comparing an independent release to the commercial success of a major label artist's sophomore album? Really?

You're not talking to a Jay Z fan here breh :stopitslime: you're talking to someone completely impartial . . so I've fixed your post to better reflect your message

"He said Jay had dikk suckin lips :shaq:" - Nas stans. One song was full of facts and disrespectful bars. The other got borderline homo schoolyard level namecalling.

Nas would have lost just like irl

Well NAS possibly could've been FINISHED in the twitter age if he waited months to comeback at JAY..especially with no leaks. :patrice:

Not to mention JAY was/is beloved so it would be millions of dikkriders ready to crown him winner ASAP. If Takeover were released on a Tuesday , Memes would have NAS finished and dikkriding corporations would be siding with JAY and probably give NAS the defeat by Friday if he didn't bring some ETHER.

:yeshrug: It wouldn't be a ether in this era. Nas would had to release the tracks within 2-5 days and hov would got the W

Ether was mostly factual. Jay was getting Nas's number from E Money Bags, he continually tried to get him on records, sampled him, shouted him out numerous times etc...referenced Song Cry by reminding Jay of his lifelong insecurity regarding gia looks, Jay is one of the biggest trendhoppers ever..i dont even feel like delving into it...

Sigh, y'all forget there were hip hop message boards, and an abundance back then.

Look at how some dude like The Weeknd got popular, by not being all up in magazines or twitter n shyt.

Apply Nas's near silence in the 3 month build up and anticipation for Stillmatic, while then dropping Ether on Jay's birthday  that goes over in any era.

Most of y'all weren't around, but the opinion was Nas was done after Takeover, but then Ether came out :whew:

Taking timing out of it (i.e. Having to respond by Friday lol), no, jay would have taken a massive L. He'd recover from it, but dude wouldn't continue to have the 01/02 that he had, he would've had to lay low.

Someone needs to do a webseries chronicling how beefs of the past would have played out if social media was poppin, Pac and big, Janet and Madonna, brandy and Monica :mjlol: big being called out for ugly shaming xscape, that Timbaland jermaine dupri beef that didn't crack as hard as it should have

Message boards back then weren't as popular or influential as they are now, and that says nothing of social media which didn't even exist. People are programmed now to wildly speculate and mine for truth in manufactured images.
