I have a problem with whites taking the joke out of context, and using it to be racist. But that isn't a problem with the joke, thats a problem of white people doing what they do.
The entire context or premise of the joke is that there is a civil war in the black community between those who fit the inferior “******” description and good blacks, and it’s the “******s” that make the good blacks look bad. That’s exactly what white racists have been saying for centuries.

Plus are you pretending Chris Rock didn't attack white supremacist on that special, just because he didn't on that joke?
This is about the joke in particular, not the special as a whole. I don’t remember that whole special, but I remember the “black men want credit for shyt they’re supposed to do” joke was c00n shyt too. Black men are deliberately sabotaged from being protectors and providers, so if you’re a black man who has overcame systemic obstacles to protect and provide for yours anyway, then you damn sure have a right to take pride in that. Obama’s rehash of the joke in the documentary just underlined the c00n mentality behind it. If you’re a black male in this society, you are SUPPOSED to go to jail. The system is deliberately set up that way. Obama knows this.

When I was a kid I laughed and thought that joke was funny. I didn’t think that it was making an argument for racists and c00ns, but now I think the joke was in poor taste.

My family had everything from crackheads to business owners in it, so to me it was just like any family discussion about the people in your family that are fukking up... except no one has those discussions in public for other people to laugh at. Chris Rock had the world laughing AT, not with, our black family so to speak.

That's exactly how I feel. Its a routine that will work ONE TIME and only in the 90s. It was a reflection of the time like Eddie Murphy's homo jokes in Delirious. Had white people not used it for their talking points we wouldn't have such harsh criticism of the joke. And obviously nobody in 96 knew how quickly propaganda would spread thru the internet

I'm pretty sure for centuries white racist have been saying all nikkas were bad,or at least not equal .Even for those who thought maybe we shouldn't get hung JUST for being black:comeon:. That is more of a perspective that black elites have been having since the Reconstruction Era. Its important to see the whole special, because for one theres more jokes to find offensive if you are looking for deep social commentary, like when he talks about "the beauty of crack". Not sure why people are choosing to take that joke so seriously out of all of the others. The black men want credit bit is a part of the same joke also. But right after that joke Chris Rock said he knows white people do the same shyt, but we can't be worried about them. Pointed out how they try to make it look like its all black people on welfare when we are only 10% of the population. How come Chris Rock bashers don't give him credit for that talking point and challenging that perception. Chris Rock should be responsible because he should have forseen whites loving a special he made for black people? because whites are racist and c00ns are insecure?Becuase he should have forseen youtube where white racist could spread one sound bite, and ignore the rest of the special where he bashes white supremacy for overcrowded jails?Being that Obama made pardons knowing why jails were overcrowded, its safe to say Obama did know that.

I'm looking at Chris Rocks career as a whole and how he has stood up for blacks, shytted on whites and their racism. Black people labeling him a c00n soley off that joke is them taking him out of context, just like the white supremacist who take that one clip out of the whole special and use it for their own talking points:martin:.

I think it’s good to see how it would be received today. It’s a reflection of how much more sensitive we’ve become over the past 20 years.

In the same way we look back at Eddie Murphy Delirious. The over the top homophobia is cringe to look at now but it was a sign of the times.
Sensitive is the wrong word. Try to think of it ignorance as a disease and wisdom as part of your immune system.

We aren’t Moreno sensitive, our bodies are better equipped to handle bullshyt.

Bruh yove gone on this pro-chris rock rant when im not even a chris rock basher. Yea i think he soft shoe c00ns but he's an entertainer and thats pretty much a given. i dont really have a problem wirh him. My issue is with the joke in particular. I responded to this thread because ive always felt a way about it. You're deflecting. This is only about the "******s vs black people" joke.
