you're a product of the machine my friend. so am I. but you missed what dame said. and you dont understand the difference.
THe reason people WORK 9 to 5's isnt because they want to. its because of the security(benefits, guarantee pay check in 2 weeks, their check is also more stable over all).
And there is nothing wrong with wanting security. I'd rather be a product of the machine that understand exactly how the system works than some clown like Dame shytting on people with no concept of business. Many people enjoy their 9-5s and many have the freedom to do as they please. If YOU are valuable and you have a problem with what the boss says - leave. You'll find a job somewhere else because your skill set is in demand. Dame Dash for all his bragging is not in demand anywhere. He's a "boss" with no clout in the industry he once worked in and is now selling hand me down motor oil.
the reason people own businesses is not only to make money for themselves today, its also to not have a boss where they have to curtail their imagination, etc., lastly to have something to pass on to family.
You know I've seen this rhetoric repeated by ignorant people regularly. Do you know that you can own part a company without being the boss - and be better off than the boss? You realize Envy has much more to pass on to his son than Dame Dash? I mean seriously step back and think about WHAT kind of people you're talking about. The people that have miserable jobs with little career opportunities because the people they work for hold all of the power. They have no ownership in where they work and at best that job is just a holdover until something else comes along. Now look at where DJ Envy is and ask yourself if that applies to him. Once again - there is nothing wrong with wanting to own your own stuff, But be realistic in how the world works or you'll end up just like Dame.
can you pass on company stock? Sure. can you pass on money? sure. do you think envy is worth millions(not a life insurance policy, money in the bank, property/etc.) if the answer is NO. then he doesnt have enough to pass on to his Kid(s) in order to guarantee they dont have to HAVE A BOSS. thats true freedom. but it comes at a cost(less secure money, cause you can be up one day and down the next. but some people take pride in being their own boss.)
Whatever Envy's networth is doesn't matter. It doesn't even matter if it's millions today or tomorrow because none of us know the answer. You can't say whether it's "enough". The point is Envy has assets that he can pass down to his son and Dame didn't know that. End of story. There is no true freedom in being a boss of a rotting empire and saying "here son - you take over. You're the boss now!" - No. That's called passing down debt and liabilities. Can Dame pass anything Rocafella related to his kids and have them eat or does his kid have to sell cookies to Ebro at Hot 97? Learn how wealth is built before you spout the lame rhetoric of those that don't understand. Envy's son could turn 18 with just $300,000 to his name and no debt and be better off than "CEO Dame Dash Jr" who has inherited his father's assets that are in the hole.
let me explain. do you realize in most companies if your parent or wife, husband, brother, sister dies on tuesday you basically have like 5 days or less in order to mourn their loss and you better get ya a... back to work or you may be written up. THAT is not freedom. no matter how you spin it.
And so what? Tough shyt. The world doesn't stop for you. My family owns their own business and they are the boss. If someone dies they don't take a week off to mourn. shyt gotta get done. That's life. You are sorely mistaken if you think being a boss means you just take vacations when you please, tell people what to do, and walk out the door counting money. Very few people have that luxury. You've got a product to sell and customers to serve - they don't give a fukk about your dead aunt, they want want they paid for.
we worker bees need to own up to it. and maybe we can switch it up. not everyone is going to be a boss so to speak. but for those that can be. ENVY can be, he's been in the game too long. knows to many people with $$$, he has a following. he's not starting from scratch. so technically envy's only excuse is the security of it. just admit it. thats why that was the only time he got quiet is when dame said its the security.
You want Envy to take his platform off of Clear Channel, convince his two cohosts who are also the product, and go where? Start a youtube channel? Then when he has to maintain the same economic power he has now and can't because of the high barrier of entry into national radio then what? What does he do when the competition is too great and his voice can't reach as far? How do you know CTG wanted to break away too, but Yee didn't and the idea got flushed? Do you know the start up costs for a national platform is in the millions because you can't just broadcast for free due to FCC regulations? Maybe Envy wanted to go satellite but realized the time and effort is too much for little payoff because the user base is smaller?
If you want me to admit anything it's that I understand just how difficult it is to be a boss in some places. I've also got enough business sense to ask a lot of questions and do the critical thinking necessary before I even take my first step. None of us know what Dj Envy has tried to do with his money. But we know what Dame did and his ideas and results are those of the typical smart dumb nikka. It's perfectly fine to be a "worker bee" if your money isn't only tied to the job and you can use that paycheck to leverage financial independence - just like Envy. It's also fine to realize you want to be the boss and make the big decisions, take the risks on your shoulders and move up - just like Jay. It's not fine to be blind to the reality of how business works and give stupid advice, you'll end up failing spectacularly and possibly struggle to keep your footing in that industry once people realize you truly know nothing - just like Dame.
