I can’t believe people in here are buying into the notion that you should only use your own money to fund a business. That’s just foolish. Go look at the financial statements of any successful business, and you will find debt on their balance sheet. Even Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates used debt and outside investors to fund their businesses, so y’all don’t think they have control over their lives :what:

Different times. Neither Flex, nor Slay became what Khaled did. And Drama is still basically Clue of ATL. Khaled hit the perfect storm of timing with the sound, connects, and a shift in industry. There was not a Khaled before, and there won't be another, no matter how many tried to duplicate the formula.

Envy isn't known for DJing these days he's a radio personality. and if not for the Breakfast Club taking off the way it did, he'd be forgotten.

Go watch that Backstage clip. Listen to what the people who were under him (Budden, Envy, Fabolous, etc) say how lazy he was. Look at the plugs he had (Rocafella, MTV, etc) he had. Then look at how much he capitalized versus others who didn't have those advantages.

Clue wanted to be big and he had a personality. He just didn't work hard and he doesn't even have an excuse like a federal raid to blame.

For all intents and purposes, Clue should be a major exec or at least a major gatekeeper in hip-hop. He was basically non-existent the last decade.

Do remember (pun intended) that Clue vs. Flex was one of the major battles in the Power 105 vs. Hot 97 beef. Clue initially won the ratings war but Flex has dominated him as far as overall relevancy because he got Karen Civil to teach him social media. Meanwhile, Clue has basically been living off his mixtape legacy and not adapted. He's made halfhearted attempts in the last few years but it's been too little too late thus far.

That Backstage clip and its aftermath are sadly the definition of "wasted talent."

because his interviews are funny...
...I dont hate the man...but the way some of yall act like he's a source of knowledge is concerning...
...like I said elsewhere in this thread...he's just finding new ways to shyt on people.

He cant claim to be "cake-aholic" anymore, so now he's mister "if you dont put up your own money youre not a boss"...
...it sounds smart to the uninitiated....
...but its bullshyt so he can passively aggressively shyt on Jay.

Damn near every "gem" he drops is just a passively aggressive way on shytting on people.

I can see that in Dame because I used to be that way...and its something im still working on.
Life has a way of humbling you though...im just shocked he hasnt learned his lesson.
preach my dude

these kids dont understand that this is just the passive aggressive ramblings of a narcissistic egomaniac weedhead who shytted on everyone while he was up followed by a public and embarrassing fall from grace

i dont have a problem with dame, the 90s is my era so ill always salute him and the roc, but people defend him as though he wasnt an insufferable piece of shyt when he was on top. there are countless verified reports of his arrogant bullying toxic antics and just cos he fell off and uses the only angle available to him lets not pretend he's a prophet now

i am the most pro weed person you will ever meet in all possible ways - saying that, one consequence of smoking that GOOD 24/7 is it will diminish the distinction between conscious and sub conscious - and there are a few examples here if you really listen, where dame slips and says things he shouldn't which let you see behind the mask a little

i hope he finds peace and happiness and credit to him for all he did for the game and making millionaires - he is/was a highly intelligent guy and deep down he aint malicious. but if dame is a spiritual guide or teacher, nah b... dude is negative as fukk

exactly

it's dame's easy justification for being "broke" or not being liquid enough to have access to funds

for all his success in the game he should be sitting on puff or jay money but he aint so he talks about this put your own money up
there is no reason he couldnt invest in his businesses and still have money - but he doesnt so he talks that bullshyt

the internet
Whoever invest the money has control
just not true...there are tons of different deal structures.

Does it matter though?

If youre starting w/ ZERO money, and end up w/ a business worth $10million+...5 years later you get thrown out by the board (assuming you took the company public) w/ several million in the bank...where is the loss?

Lol you really just dont get it.
I get it...this is all I do...all I think about.

Youve bought into some bullshyt somehow somewhere...which is exactly why cats look at those who blindly listen to Dame funny.

if you take a company public, you have a board of directors...
...they can kick you out.
Its what happened to Steve Jobs.

By the time that happens youre probably worth $10million+ easy.

But ill let yall pretend its always better to flip your money.

The point is being missed, once again. Dame is an extremist who speaks in extreme terms, and is living some extreme shyt. Nobody thinks, nor did Dame ever say, doing it his way is the only way or the smart way or the best way to get rich. In fact, he repeats often that his way will definitely NOT get you the most money. Y'all keep arguing against a point that isn't there. I dont think its because people don't understand, I think some of yall are just triggered by his rhetoric.
