lets be reality. in the early 2000's, dude was destined to blow with or without the roc simply because of all the quality production he was putting out. He was gonna release his own album just off that alone. and we all know he had plenty of hot beats back then.
No way. Do u think Ye would have blown had he signed to, say, Ruff Ryders? He might have missed his wave.

no you just dont get it. and it sounds like youre not really a rap guy. and thats cool, but if you know you arent.......

and youre not talking facts. youre talking fantasy.

its not about me liking or not liking anybody. the same thing goes for whoever.

those SP artists that youre mentioning were not as big as kanye. lol. kanye was a crossover artist before his 1st album even dropped.

those artists are milk carton status to whom? people who arent really into rap like that? thanks for proving my initial statement true.

Compared to fukkin Kanye West they're milk carton status, that's who...lol.

Cant really carry a coherent convo with someone who is a agenda-driven, and routinely retreats into their own self created universe of ideas, and makes sht up as they go along. If you think Kanye is whatever, and he was lucky blah blah. Go for it. Doesn't mean anything to me. Now I don't know anything about rap because I disagree with your opinion. That doesn't take much effort my friend.

I don't know what's worse:

1. People always claiming a rapper that blew up, would've blew up "regardless", which is the silliest shyt ever. That's like every time a minor rapper dies "he was on the verge of taking the rap game over!".

2. People praising Rawkus. Man, fukk Rawkus. It was a pseudo-indie pet project of Rupert Murdoch's son that gave us a handful of good material before it imploded and turned into a plan ol regular record label fukking it's artists. The only lasting legacy that label has is creating the archetypical annoying underground rap fan.

Fred.

oh you aint hear?

"rawkus was a big movement".

no disrespect to rawkus but youre not bridging any gaps on that label.

i think thats the point homie was getting at.
his point was false. Rawkus bridged many gaps. :dahell:

Eminem.
Big L.
Kool G Rap
Black Star.
Talib Kweli.
Pharaoh Monch.
Mos Def.

You nikkas are fukking crazy.

Eminem got his feet in the door through sound bombing. And then duck down etc, before Dre signed him.

The thing is, back then...labels like Rawkus and Loud nurtured talent, making them ready to step up to the big leagues.

But beyond the money making factor, these nikkas were first brought to the world through labels like Rawkus.

No fukking Sense of fukking History. And it scares the shyt out of me.

Don't want to have my seeds growing up in this Migos, Game, Chief Keef ass world. :(

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Life isn't black and white like that.

While I don't talk 'family' shyt nor are we even friends at this point, the person who was my mentor in my profession, I still acknowledge and respect him. He helped me get where I am at today.

He doesn't owe Dame money or some type of free video cameo. Dame should not get treated like the Ebola virus.
Mentor tho? Who said that? Ye himself says no ID is his mentor and last I checked, he still working with him and giving him props

Kanye had 90% of college dropout done and was shopping it when the roc was still like "fukk this nikka"

Look at puff. His actual mentor had to fire his ass. It's business. That's why they say family and business don't mix. Cause family will fukk up. Then expect you to still hold them down on some family shyt. Meanwhile business wise it's fukking you up.

nikkas made 30 million off rocawear alone. Another rack of millions off selling the label. And you still out here involved in drugs? Meanwhile ye is 3-4-5 albums later after you simply said "give him a chance" and he's supposed to send you money, visit your kids and visit your family. Why am I even sending money to a nikka who made money off me AND probably made over 50 million

Meanwhile where's the loyalty from them? Why nobody brings that up?

Where's beans money on his books. He made y'all money. Y'all was family. Where's state props money for their kids. They made you money. They was family. Y'all calling bleek and making sure his family is straight?

I ride with those who ride with me. The whole time. I give back to those who gave to me. 10 times over.

But I'm not gonna be taking care of my BOSS'S kids and family cause he gave me a job and then sold drugs. I paid you back when I busted my ass and made you those millions when you gave me 10 cents a record.

It's 2014. It's damn near 10 years later and these dudes still crying about what happened and who's not still taking care of who. 10 fukking years later fam.

How long should ye be paying back this debt? 20 years? 50 years? Life? Everytime a nikka need something?

This is why you can't mix. This is why literary dudes go broke. "Oh remember when you was 15 and I fought that bully. Let me get 10k"

compared to kanye west, theyre milk carton status according to whom? thats the question.

like i said, you just dont get it. you cant carry a coherent convo on this topic because what im saying doesnt reasonate WITH YOU because youre not a hip-hop guy. therefore, you fail to comprehend even the simplest points being made by myself & others in this thread. points that dead your whole argument.

and like i said, its not a diss. yet, youre in here hurling insults for no reason. but let me hurl some insults back, and youre gonna play the innocent role.

A lot of worthless acts get signed. Rocafella signed Amil :mjlol: Em and Proof were low key the only dudes out of D12 worth talking about :sas1:

I think Ye and Em had what it took to make the most out of an opportunity. But I bet there are plenty of Ems and Yes all over the country right now that nobody knows about because they never got the look. Nobody reached superstardom level w/o a look.

The convo is kinda veering off into another direction, but even with that said Em and Ye had the makeup and moxie to become stars. Its not like they were handed success on a silver platter early in their careers. Both experienced a lot of rejection and paid their dues, always working at their craft until they became polished artists. That's another reason why Im confident they would have became stars regardless of whomever signed them...both didn't take no for an answer. Had others not had the same makeup as they did, they probably would have become frustrated with their lack of success and quit because they felt sorry for themselves. Em and Ye just became more focused and determined.

nikka. are you remedial. Bridging the gap is connecting two groups through a similar like, want or need. Kanye West production did that. It brought Mos Def, Kweli, Twista, Hov, Tribe, etc etc fans all together.

Rawkus allowed Kanye to :eat: this exposed him to the big names who he eventually signed to, because he's Kanye. Same shyt with Eminem.

nikkas fukked with Em because of the "Any Man" Days. This shyt validated him for real hip hop heads, who heard the freestyles etc that were out way before that signing. Again...bridging the gap.

People are saying Rawkus wasnt shyt now!? :mjlol:

Everybody that was into hip hop at least knew that movement.
Add to the fact that Kanye has the drive & skill that few people have...he would have for sure blown w/o Rocafella.

A fukkING MEN.

:myman:

these lil nikkas don't know. Everyone knew Kanye was gonna blow.

I knew it when he had those Kweli hits. When I try came out. He had Mary singing so beautifully on that Hook. :wow:

But it was solidified when I heard the original "Workout Plan" Beat. :banderas:

nikkas who were in college or senior year of HS know what the fukk I'm talking about.
