Colorism has real serious effects on the black community. Colorism effects prison sentencing for black people, how black people are treated in classrooms and the list goes on and on. But the only time I ever hear colorism being discussed is in relation to who won't date or fukk someone of a certain shade and women don't typically don't care to hear black men's pov. At this point I'm deaf to these conversations because all the talks about colorism always boil down to women complaining about who didn't want to date or fukk them and not the real serious effects of it.

Your dreams
A nephew in-law called himself the dark older brother in a self depreciating way, he was like 9. Then a while later and adult called him dark older brother, his mama had just had another son. I spoke about it with the adults when the kids went out.

Another time someone commented that my neice inlaw was the darkest of another sister in laws kids. She was 7/8. She is like several shades lighter than me. She jumped up and started shouting that she wasn't dark. I told off the adults for having such a stupid conversation, and they wondered why people bleach when they get older. They internalise this shyt from a young age.

Had a young male employee bleach his skin. My friend who used to drop by, never spoke of or to him. When he was now pale, he kinda had a mild case of that vybz cartel look. And she said. "OMG who it that hottie!" She only dates biracial or "other" so... He was a good looking young man, his wife was not light skinned, he just wanted to be light skinned I guess coz I could never get a straight answer from him.

My aunts husband who I thought was light skinned all my life stopped bleaching. His skin is very dark now. His son now bleaches... I believe my cousin bleaches coz of my aunt who started bleaching when I was a child and not because of the dad.

I am dark skinned and my colourism moment was from a man I rejected. And he told me Im dark skinned and shouldn't be uppity, he was in his 20's I was a teenager. He was even much darker than me... I had never considered dark or light skin before this encounter coz I was hit on by various races and no one had ever brought up complexion to me, we were assorted complexions in my family and no one ever spoke about it.

Another was from another dark skinned man as well, but his was in the form of advice that I shouldn't wear all back as I am dark skinned...

Then assorted women who have congradulated me on having light skinned kids. The usual, "aww so pretty they look just like you, but with the added advantage of being light skinned.":stopitslime: This was from dark and light skinned women...

I honestly never had issues with black women because I'm dark. Been clowned for corny lines and shyt like that but haven't experienced as much colorism.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist...just haven't personally dealt with it as much from American born sistas. Of course I usually approached dark-skinned, big titty, short sistas and they appreciated my ghetto nerd swag :russ:.

Colorism doesn't affect black men sexually....

But societally? It does, but they never want to acknowledge that... :sas2:

Bro, this right here. Women don't realize how much they incentivize men to be patriarchal/sexist with this shyt.

If you actually try to be respectful and take them seriously, they end up viewing you as being soft and afraid and impotent, because they expect you to exert your masculine presence.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

They view you as pathetic and incompetent for actually engaging with them and taking them seriously :mindblown:

That argumentative woman needs therapy.

The argument about you did stuff when you are a child and now you are adults is bullshyt. The experiences we have as kids colour our lives forever.

She clearly is hurt and needs to talk to someone.

I can’t related to foreign discussions of colorism as an American because our experience is unique.

This why foreign black women hate ADOS men the most because they think we perpetuate global colorism
