This mentality has held back NY for decades

Imagine if Hov and Nas came thru thinking they could never surpass BDK and Rakim :snoop:
What . The whole reason why OP thought this was thread worthy is because it’s the opposite of what 99% of NY rappers say. They all say they are the king of NY. They all want to be the king and don’t look out for each other , that’s why they’ve been held back not because they have a humble outlook :deadmanny:

The problem is, nobody has come and surpassed Jay and Nas. Jay and Nas took it to another level over Rakim and Kane but the same has not been done in regards to them.

it is tough because technically esco is held as the standard

then on the business side you got jigga

to be king in ny it takes more than just being popping

The guys that come out as "spitters" y'all call generic because y'all "heard it before". The young nikkas that bring innovation using the voice as an instrument and bringing a new approach to song writing y'all hate on.

Funny how that works :lolbron:

It's never gonna be rappers like them again and it's not just a NY thing either.

What y'all see now is the evolution of rap. The guys who are out now are the ones taking it to "another level".

@ISO folks really only rappidy.rap now if they can't get on the melodic wave

it's going back to feel & sound over content

a nikka like tony.sunshine was way too early ha

but for real the final.form will be a artist with real vocal talent but lyrically in tune with the streets

That's not an evolution, it's a transformation.

fif a legend & really might hold more influence with the young g's than esco/jigga as far as music goes

fif & the og's did a piss poor job of keeping their labels in tune by push the following generations

regardless the energy is something different in nyc it's really it's own world

it's like if you took the whole diaspora & blended the vibes up in the p's you'd get what nyc sound will be going forward

full circle it's coming right back to where it was born

I think it's an evolution. It was clearly artists before the guys today that influenced them. :manny:

A transformation would suggest that it just happened out the blue.

But call it what you will it's the game now. :francis:

An evolution would suggest that it's gotten better.
