A lot of what he's saying is things he got credited (which were referenced in the interview) for as a drum programmer. That's not the same as producing. In regard to "Ain't No Fun", Warren G brought in the sample for that one and there's there's an article where they go into detail about how it was created.

Yo I'm just thinkin bout this shyt and it's hilarious. As an engineer and a producer I would be damned if I sat down. Brainstormed and used my creativity to make a beat. Whether digging for a sample. Choppin shyt up. Drums. Synths. All that. Spending hours or days or even months or whatever time it takes. Then a nikka came and mixed my beat and tried to take credit for my shyt. I would wanna whoop they ass. Lmao.

Then they said there was a difference sonically and explained that Dre added a string. It looks like a rather minor detail, but considering that "Hate It Or Love It" is one of their best if not best beat, that and whatever else he did made a difference. all i'm sayin' is, i think daz did a lot of work that i don't think he was properly credited for. dre was already a brand and a name and bein' that he's the "man"

Yes, it definitely sounds identical. There's an obvious difference though. "Hate It Or Love It" is like the best beat in their catalog and the same Christina Milian song that sounds nearly identical didn't reach the same success or is even considered as one of their best.

Thats because it came out like the same year bruh. And it's a damn Christina Milian song. Lol. When it came out people was already fukkin wit Hate It Or Love It. Why would they even go up in arms about Say I? Noone gave a fukk about the song in general. They could've gave her the Hate It Or Love It beat first and noone would've cared. Except nikkas who know better and would use it to spit a freestyle over. Lol

This is what I'm getting at. Daz's version sounds a little empty and the Dre touched beat has a fuller sound and there's strings in the background. It's also looped. There isn't transition between the verses and the hook.
