Yeah, get a job and have good reports on that job. However, I do understand some employers can be a$$holes. So, I'll say if they don't get into trouble, then they should have their rights restored in a year.
So even if they're unemployed they can still vote?

I feel they should find some type of job. Even if it's a small gig.
See the issue is that it's not that easy for people who don't have a record. It was hard for my cousin before he went back in. And he stayed out for a long while, joined job placement centers and volunteered but no one was looking to hire him.

Well, volunteering I can make an exception. Because he's helping out. Now, sitting home doing nothing naw.

fixed for clarity

And to add to that, felons are leaving jail in a disadvantage jobwise since no one wants to hire an ex-con.

Why add on to that disadvantage by not allowing them to vote?

It would then be that much harder to WANT to be a productive citizen if you coming out with no job possibilities

AND not being able to vote!

Why'd you fix that. I meant that it's hard for people without a record to get jobs. It must be even harder for ex-con's. Guess I should've continued the sentence.

See, my point is if they in was prison most of their life they don't know what's going on in the everyday realm. I'm for them voting, but they have to earn that. For me, it's not easy just voting for someone. I have to research the candidate and etc.

Then how do you explain your (former) support for Trump? :lolbron:

Aight, I'm in Virginia and my governor just restored convicted felons voting rights. Should convicted felons vote down the line? Yes. However, I feel they have to earn that by being productive in society and etc for a certain length of time. So, what are your thoughts on this?

Basically, I don't think convicts should be able to vote when they just got out of prison. They have to earn it in my opinion.
they already earned it by being citizens over 18. they served their time. this is very anti-democratic of you. i'm surprised you're interested in voting at all with a chavez avatar.

Oh, ok. I see what you were trying to say, but it wasn't that clear.

Trust me, some felons repeat themselves. I feel this is a fair tradeoff. We need an effective method.

I didn't vote for him in the primary doe :manny: For a year and a half I supported Bernard Sanders. Donated and voted for him.
