As has always been the case, the Raptors are quietly racking up wins while everyone pays attention to the rest of the NBA. Raps are now 26-10, good for 2nd in the East (tied in losses with 1st place Boston) and have the 4th highest win % in the NBA.
Meanwhile, their star player DeMar DeRozan is shooting .485% from the field (best since his rookie year on severely less shot attempts and as a role player), .368% from 3 (career high) while also giving you over 4 rbs per game and a career high 5 assists per game.
As with every year, he becomes a greater offensive threat by adding more tools to his game and/or already enhancing what he has. His mid-range is deadly, his ball handling is vastly improved, his finishing at the rim is near second to none, he makes and takes a ton of FTs (not that Harden BS either) and now he can shoot the 3.
The things he REALLY stepped up this year is the vision on the court and his defense. He's merging into a complete player on both ends of the court.
It's about time people recognise a top 2 SG in the NBA and top 10 player overall. DeRozan might not be the top 3 MVP options as of yet, but if Toronto take the 1 seed and he continues to play like this, he might deserve the award come season end. Oh...he's averaging 40+ ppg in 2018.
