It’s creating an environment where they will lose political power or have neutered power. And considering the times we are in, that’s not what we need. You should just be able to work, not worry about whether paints gonna get thrown on your office window because the person that did it only agreed with 97% of what you say.

There’s a reason why beshear is trying to make himself be known as the guy that wants to be the “common sense” candidate and Everytime he’s on camera he does his little routine about “call it addiction not opiate dependence , hunger not food insecurity, etc.”

For Mamdani that was just another example of people being dummies. He’s a generational candidate and you’re throwing water on him over an overall topic you agree on. At minimum let him get power to make peoples lives better and protect those who deserve then go in on him however you like. :dame:
Sure. But I have trouble thinking they’re all the way wrong for taking a scorned “never again” attitude to their politicians. Too many politicians showed up as progressive saviors, only for them to get elected and about face. Maybe it’s too extreme but whatever.

I probably differ from some but at baseline I don’t trust politicians. If you go into politics you have a baseline level of narcissism, self serving ambition and self importance IMO. With that being said it’s our jobs as citizens to get what we can out of them and force them to make our lives better. However we can’t get anything out of them if they don’t have power in the first place. I’m all for making these nikkas have sleepless nights, giving them hell, etc but not at the expense of black kids naked in the streets of Chicago zip tied up for another generation of PTSD stories to bond over.

We agree. I held my nose and voted for her, despite my vote not meaning much in NJ. As a black man, taking care of home first/lesser of two evils isn’t a sentiment I fault at all. I just respect the people who stood on business too. Cause in 30 years when people look back at this shyt, they’re gonna all act like they were freedom fighters and stood up for righteousness. And I’m going to pull my hair out screaming at the void cause they’re full of shyt.

There’s no perfect candidate, which is the issue with disaffected Bernie crowd. And even he’s far from perfect even on the issue of Palestine, amongst other things.

For example, when I see people like Amanda Seales who refuse to attack (or sometimes even low key compliment) Trump, and damn near ignore issues happening here in America in favor of issues literally everywhere else, what exactly is the end game? What does she want? It gives that she has no issue with this administration or how the country is being run.

There’s no pleasing voters like that.
The issue with this is that younger people haven’t proven they can carry the party. The only thing they’ve proven is what they can’t/won’t do, which is vote and raise money. Especially if it’s not someone they agree with 100%.

Let’s take India Walton for example on a small scale. She couldn’t even get enough of her base to come out and press a button and lost to someone who had to get people to write his actual name to count as a vote.

You can’t win elections like that. On a national scale, democrats can’t just say F off to anyone 40-65 in favor of people who say they’ll only vote based on policies that have nothing to do with life in America.
You understand that this was the exact same philosophy that guided the failed Hillary and Kamala campaigns, right? "fukk the youth/activists/progressives because they criticize us, they can't carry the party or bankroll our high-dollar fundraisers that are required so we can make six figures after we leave office, we don't need them, we'll chase the mythical moderate middle"...didn't work out too well for those campaigns, did it. Meanwhile, the Obama campaign (and Biden campaign to a lesser degree) was highly receptive to the youth/activist/progressive wing of the party and it turned out pretty well for them, huh...

Progressives, who watched Bernie “2 time loser”Sanders, Jamaal “Fire Alarm” Bowman, Cori Bush lose want to lecture democrats about how to win elections with the goofy progressive agenda is comedy.

:skip:

If America is so eager to adopt the progressive agenda like they claim, why didn't any of those ppl I mention win? Hmmmm
You're a fukking terrible poster.

I didn't think she was the best candidate. But it was hers to lose.
I agree, and in fact think she was in the catbird seat for the first half of the election cycle until she started onboarding the Democratic Strategists who would rather preserve their K Street bonafides than win elections and coached her dumb ass to eliminate any fresh ideas and run as Biden 2.0.
But honestly, I'm glad she's talking her shyt. That's exactly what she needs to tell the voting public. Elections have consequences. :manny:
If "talking her shyt" means lying out of her mouth about the actual record of what happened and the mistakes she made, then she needs to be quiet. What she should be telling the voting public is that she fukked up by running towards Trump instead of away from him, and that the Democratic Party is committed to regrouping after a loss and coming back with a better, stronger, DIFFERENT approach. But instead we're hearing this utterly pathetic and self-serving tripe about how she did nothing wrong and the stupid public should have been willing to overlook her support for a genocide to give her more power. A truly disgraceful idiot she is.

Even with all her flaws, she was still the better choice. And it was obvious she was the better choice. People voted with emotion and not policy.

People treated this election like Obama vs Romney or Clinton vs Bush. It was not that type of election and everyone who voted knew that.

So yeah, her response to those protesters is warranted and justified. Unfortunate? Yes. Not the most politically savvy? Yes. But wrong? Nah.

What's the establishments issue with Platner?

The CEO of Aetna isn't going to want to hire Kirsten Gillibrand kid for an undeserved internship and early hire if her party increasingly starts to criticize the rapaciously for-profit healthcare system.

The CFO of Wells Fargo isn't going to sign off on Adam Schiff's Democratic Party fundraiser if his party increasingly starts talking about the fundamental economic injustices that permeate the entire country.

The Chairman of Lockheed Martin isn't going to allow Hakeem Jeffries to use his 2nd beach home and rolodex for a fundraiser if his party increasingly starts talking about how bombing children is wrong.

Progressive policies positively poll with 80% of the country, the people will obviously pick a politician like this every time :hula: the only reason insert progressive candidate lost is because of centrist Voltron/AIPAC/insert other excuse
This is largely the reason why both Bowman and Bush lost. You can't ignore how those primary contests became nationalized, or how they were driven by massive outside spending, and intra-party fights over foreign policy. The AIPAC and other pro-Israel groups spent tens of millions of dollars propping up googly-eyed racist George Latimer and the traitor Wesley Bell. Bowman/Latimer was also the most expensive primary race ever for a house seat.

In short they'd rather have Susan Collins win re-election than platner win because he will be one more person that changes how politics is done in dc. They want to remain in power keep status quo

Agreed.

And it was obvious she was the better choice.
Eh, somewhat agreed.

People voted with emotion and not policy.
I think for the people you're talking about, it was both. In fact, it was an unprecedentedly policy-driven emotional request. Enacting an arms embargo to stop a genocide is a remarkably clear policy demand, especially in the context of a vibes-driven campaign that was basically running on "...well I'm not Trump!".

People treated this election like Obama vs Romney or Clinton vs Bush. It was not that type of election and everyone who voted knew that.
I think the people you're talking about treated this election like there was a genocide actively being aided and abetted by the United States government (under a Democratic Administration), so the stakes were much higher than Obama vs Romney or Clinton vs Bush. I would argue it was the Harris campaign (and its diehard supporters) that were cavalier in dismissing the emotional stakes of this election because it didn't match their desired terrain of just abortion and January 6th. The inconvenient genocide.

So yeah, her response to those protesters is warranted and justified. Unfortunate? Yes. Not the most politically savvy? Yes. But wrong? Nah.
Being embarrassed and frustrated that you lost the election to a reheated geriatric is understandable, but responding to protestors like that was obviously wrong and unwarranted. It's wrong on a practical level of winning political office, and it's the completely wrong position for a public servant to take. As someone seeking higher office, you are subservient to the public, including protestors and the potential voters they represent.

I don't know if it's a result of him being raised in a prior political era where the art of politicking was more widely practiced, but it's fukking insane that even Joe Biden understands this at a deeper level than Kamala. His response to his protestors was much better than hers. If the issue the protestors are fighting for is coming from your side of the political spectrum and is legitimate (which it is here), then you smile and say "god bless you, we're working on it!". If the issue is coming from the opposite side of the political spectrum and is illegitimate (anti-abortion protestors for example) then you smile and say "we don't agree, but I'll fight for you nonetheless". Mamdani has been conducting a masterclass at this when people jeer him as an evil muslim communist or whatever. He never cracks. Kamala is apparently very thin-skinned. Would have made a bad President.
