I don't even think any of the progressives on HL were really shytting on Biden heavy before October 7th. I saw multiple posts in here by progressives favorably comparing him to Obama and other Democratic Presidents due to his Administration's relatively advanced stances and actions on progressive issues like antitrust and labor, even given his weakness during the Build Back Better negotiations.

He wasn't just hamstrung by the Republican Congress, he was blocked by recalcitrant Democratic Senators. I see the value of a Joe Manchin because I think it is important for Dems to be able to win in local regions/states, but we also need Presidents who have the ability to use the bully pulpit the way LBJ did. He should have used his capital to go after Sinema and Manchin for blocking his agenda.

This is one of the core fatal flaws of Biden's Presidency. Maybe it was his age, maybe it was his deeply held politics, but he refused to attack the people inside his own tent knifing his alleged goals. It fukked his domestic agenda with Sinema and Manchin walking all over him with no threat of him redirecting public anger and discontent towards them, and it fukked his foreign agenda with Netanyahu walking all over him with no threat of him redirecting public anger and discontent towards hi,. Some people are right to be skeptical of Platner. I am too. But I can't shake the feeling that others just see an opportunity to go after someone who doesn't fit their "moderate" mold, especially since he's an insurgent candidate gaining momentum outside the party.
