The irony is that if hypothetically Newsom after winning in 2028 was able to bring us back to the 2016 status quo then implemented the 2016 Clinton platform he would be seen as transformational and Newsom would be held as a GOAT.

What’s missed on these people who can’t be compelled to vote but know that they should vote is if Clinton won in 2016… we’d be much closer to the socialist paradise they envision than we are now.

Republicans winning doesn’t keep the country in a holding pattern that subsequent left leaning presidents can continue to build on, the Republicans regress the country substantially, not voting is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Anyone advocating for not voting or voting third party in an election when MAGA is on the ballot should be confronted on it every time they claim to be a progressive.

One can at the same time hope to see a better version of the Democratic Party, but also be a part of a coalition to stop fascism. Not sure why some think those are mutually exclusive choices.

If Newsom was able to fully reverse Trump’s polices and get us back to the 2016 status quo THEN implement Clinton’s 2016 platform he would be seen as one of the GOATs..

Here’s a reminder of what your people thought of as “MID” back then.

Clinton ran on:

- Raising the minimum wage to $12 (Newsom would inflation adjust that)

-Including a public option to Obama care and then lowering the Medicare age to 55

- By returning to the 2016 status quo Newsom some would reverse Trump’s tax cuts then implement Clinton’s tax plan wish was to raise taxes on the wealthy and cut taxes for the middle class.

- implement free public college for those making under 125k (could be inflation adjusted)

- massive investments in clean energy

- Clinton opposed mass deportation so Newsom would reverse ICE funding, and establish a pathway to citizenship

- Clinton wanted to end private prisons

- Clinton wanted keep our foreign partnerships strong, so Newsom would reverse Trump’s tariffs and work to reestablish trust with our allies to the 2016 status quo.


So yes If Newsom was able to revert us back to 2016 by reversing Trump’s policies and then implementing Clinton’s, he would be seen as a transformational presidency.
