These dudes have been conditioned by party leadership to process every political ask through the filter of a DNC consultant instead of as voters. What will make the job easiest for the politician without offending xyz group?

fukk all that. As voters we should have the audacity to make demands and let the politicians figure out how to get it done. If we get half a loaf, we’ll be disappointed, but we’ll take it. However, many Democratic voters think we are here to make life easy for the politicians and so we should begin by asking for half a loaf and be happy when we get a quarter loaf.

Then they get mad at the rest of us who demand the full loaf.

Voters: we want ICE dissolved they're slaughtering citizens and violating people's civil rights
Democrats: *unveils focused tested bs so they can appease faux news* you see we have settled with our colleagues on dash cams and name tags :troll:
Voters:.... *checks out of next election *

Democrats: why do we keep losing elections we're fighting for you on the margins :sadcam:

When you strip all this away, enacting any policy or legislation requires a majority.

You don't begin the process by compromising before negotiations even begin and that's what the DNC has conditioned voters to think in order to make their jobs easier.
Feel free to frame it however you like but being in the minority and needing to peel from majority to get any movement is the goal.

Is it a compromise, if you've already failed with it?

I support dismantling the current structure of ICE. My question isn't whether the institution is rotten, or whether it should go, it's how we ensure what replaces it isn't just "ICE" under a different name. If we can't describe the replacement, if we can't interrogate our ideas, then what is the point of all this?

That's what an activist does. Thats the whole point. They demand something from an elected official. That's how a democracy is supposed to work.

Not saying you, but a lot of voters think they are the elected officials above being the person that votes them into office, and don't understand that.

An activist is supposed to make those demands and be in the face of the politician.
I don't disagree that activists make demands. I never said otherwise. So I'm not sure what part of my argument you think this is addressing. Can you clarify?

There's nothing DNC consultant-centered about anything I'm saying. My argument is voter-centered. There's a difference between shrinking the demand and specifying the demand. I'm not saying ask for less. Why would I? It goes against what I personally want. I'm saying describe what you're asking for.

There is nothing voter centered about what you are saying. All you are doing is providing cover for cowards like Hakeem and Chuck.

How about we make the demand and let the people we gave power and resources figure out the implementation.

Hakeem and Chuck don’t seem to have issues figuring out how to fund and arm Israel or deliver for their lobbyists.

I'm going to try one more time.

If I were providing cover, I wouldn't be saying the current structure needs to be dismantled. My question is about guardrails. If we "let them figure it out" without specifying what we want the replacement to look like, why would we expect a better outcome, especially when we distrust Schumer and Jeffries? Explain to me how that is deference, and not skepticism.

And funding an existing policy priority through appropriations isn't the same as completely redesigning a federal enforcement apparatus. Those are different kinds of political actions.
