I forgot to add.... YOUR PEOPLE DONT VOTE!!,
We aren’t disagreeing here. The way your question was worded in the context of discussions here felt as if you were making a question of policy critiques as opposed to people. Everything else you’re saying is what I always say. I only push back when people who are not progressive say these things in bad faith. Like think of the level of lunacy it takes to claim that there is a difference between civil rights and progressive policy when black people are the most progressive voting block in the country. Think of the group of white people who are most likely to support BLM. It’s like some people struggle to understand that their argument about progressives as people does not bolster their arguments about people rejecting progressive policy. Otherwise, we are just regurgitating each other.People agreeing with their policies doesn't mean much if people generally don't support the candidates pushing the policies. For example, for decades laymen who lean right have disagreed with right leaning economists on international trade but it wasn't until Trump that the ideas the unelectable Pat Buchanan introduced became policy. I think money and power is a relevant constraint; but even if that is the case, to some degree it still doesn't undermine the point that progressives would benefit from a better cost/benefit analysis regarding rhetoric. Thus, if Progressives want to undermine the status quo Chomsky tinged complaining about "manipulation" should take a backseat.
The democrats aren't a progressive party. The progressives gather there because there is literally no where else to go. At the same time the people that control the party don't want or care about progressive ideas.Democrat politicans resist policies that are personally inconvenient for them and their donors
then why are the progressives gathering thereThe democrats aren't a progressive party. The progressives gather there because there is literally no where else to go. At the same time the people that control the party don't want or care about progressive ideas.
The heart and soul of the democrats is a diet coke republican style party.

The same reason black voters overwhelmingly support that party. The same reason Bernie an independent ran as a democrat. There are two valad parties and either you get in where you fit in, become a regional star as an independent but advance no further, or at the national level you're not gonna make it. A third party will never work in our political system so you kinda get in where you fit in and fight to get your ideas accepted.then why are the progressives gathering there![]()
i keep hearing this, but it directly conflicts with progressives shouting from the rooftops that their policies are loved by allThe same reason black voters overwhelmingly support that party. The democrats will take progressive votes but most of the time the attitude is shut up and fall in line. Same with black voters. On the other hand the republican party won't even pretend to care about either of those groups. I mean you see how republicans treat their most faithful block of voters (poor to lower to middle class whites). They really don't even try to do anything for them. Occasionally the democrats will throw progressives or blacks a bone.
Progs need to tailor stuff region by region and convince nonvoters to get on board. Out of that list, only UHC, banks, and to a lesser extent $15 mw and path to citizenship have any broad appeal.Universal healthcare
$15 minimum wage
Green New Deal
Criminal justice reform
Path to citizenship
Break up the banks
Student loan forgiveness
Free college
^ Clear agenda. What do the Centrist Dems want?
And really they Progressive movement has grown on a national level not shrunk. They not going anywhere anytime soon.![]()
