Democrats will not win again unless they change optics and messaging
The optics and messaging follow the policy. When your policy is informed by what donors want instead of voters, your task then becomes "how do I convince people that tiny changes are good actually?"
You're struggling at work and your pay hasn't changed while your responsibilities have. Democrats are the party that thinks "we need to have land acknowledgements at our meetings, tell people that we value them and that we are a family around here. We need to get them some pizza parties and offer them overtime once every other week"
Republicans are the party of "get back to work or you're fired"
Neither are helpful. Democrats are obsessed with trying to convince you that a crappy policy is good or good enough then getting frustrated that people aren't enthused about it.
What people need is someone who will talk to them, ask them what they're struggling with and what would help and then craft policy around that. It's what other successful parties have done but they don't want to do that because if they did, they'd realize it would mean saying shyt that people like the first poster in this thread would call "radical left" even though it's actually just remixes of policies that worked in the past.
FDR was the rare wealthy person who actually understood that if the working class in america didn't have protections to prevent them from being exploited, they may do as the Russians did and just crash out so hard that blood spills in the streets.
Modern democrats are so p*ssy that they're not willing to dream big because, again, they think it actually matters what people who never would vote for them think and also they don't want to lose their privileged millionaire status.
