They make Killmonger an OD bad guy so you don’t have to wrestle with his politics as much. He’s so evil that it doesn’t matter. They don’t want you to overly sympathise with his worldview but Coogler got in a couple great monologues
This is one of the things that seemed to be sloppily thrown in. They would have Killmonger do movie trope evil shyt just to make the audience see him as a bad guy and it really didn't fit his character's moral stance.

Good thread and great points made on both sides. For those that would like to have seen Killmonger survive and go about shyt his way, who would they have been fighting? Obviously the oppressors (cacs) , but then going around killing off all cacs would never happen in one of these films. Judging by an earlier post in here, in the comics Black Panther does go at the KKK, maybe that could be it, killing off kkk and white nationalists, but again, we’d never see that in one of these films. BP was becoming “woke” after realizing that his father was a huge Kewn, I would have liked for BP to come up with an agreement with Killmonger, meet him half way (if possible) instead of killing him. But, who knows maybe Killmonger will be back in the next film, this shyt did too well in the box office for it to stop here, this film was a set up for more to come.

I didn't like killmongers idea because it was too radical. I hate It because it was too sloppy... :yeshrug: see if he had formulated a grand plan like Hydra shyt then I would have been more on board with it. see even in the winter soldier they surgically manipulate history by taking out or subverting key figureheads of world leadership. You gain nothing by blowing up 3 cities...

Killmongers plan was well intentioned but foolish all things considered thanos is coming you really think a war on two fronts would tactically be good right now?!? :heh:

I'm spitting facts... You don't win wars by blowing up cities you do so by killing the chessmasters and pawns on the board.
:manny:

see, I think they just said some shyt just to keep the movie from going over length. who knows how much was left on the cutting room floor. we dont know how intricate KM's plan actually was. there was a general idea but I think it was more to it. also, I am not referring to war here, that is only a small part of revolution. KM in the comic books (and I assume in this film as well) was a genius military tactician.

I didnt see him as an OD bad guy. What did he do that was REALLY evil in the film? burn the herbs? he did that for a reason. Everything he did he had a purpose, whether he explained it or we as the audience could figure it out. He was very disciplined. He wasnt disrespectfully out of line, vulgar, sadistic, or any of that. He had a clear plan and a mission. He wasnt greedy either. He just wanted what he wanted in an uncompromising fashion. He was a great "villain" to me.

Im glad the movie is bringing up so much discussion but we have to appreciate that we have positive black characters on the screen with a royal family without weird shyt and the angry militant male that obviously represents some of us since people could feel his argument and views.

Killing klaw the white colonizing racist villain off so quickly broke the simple marvel formula and gave us a deeper internal conflict. Like BP said wakanda created that monster in killmonger and what if the others heard about what eric almost accomplished? Shyt for part 2 they can continue on that and possibly bring him back with the ressurection alter if they include that in the mcu

Killmonger was the star to me

Finally saw it...
He was sociopath caused by him being orphaned as a child. Yeah he said a few good things, but he had no moral compass or principle and could not handle the little power he temporarily got.
They really made a mistake by not taking him back to Wakanda.

I can understand why someone would call him a star, but I can not comprehend any body following a personality like that. That type of personality is never satisfied and consumes everything and everyone including themself. Would have destroyed everything.

no moral compass? what did he do that WAS NOT necessary to his cause?

he couldnt handle the power he had? how so? because he immediately went to work on his goal once he got it? remember this is a movie, there has to be a protagonist and an antagonist. both cant "win". also this took place in a short period, which is unrealistic in the real world but shortened so you can see it on the screen.

you say his personality wouldve never been satisfied, I didnt see that, especially when he was content with his own death. it was the Wakandans that were actually TOO satisfied and content to stay hidden from the world to protect their resources and maintain their standard of living while the rest of the world were subjugated to some form of oppression and/or colonization.

also, I never clicked on the video. didnt watch. :lolbron:

didnt think the movie demonized Black Americans (thats a pretty strong word) the movie kept it real, so someone will have to pull my coat on that one.

to whoever said Sotamayor accused the movie of doing so, well I wouldnt expect anything less from him anyway. :ehh:

fukk you and your gym. If I came thru it wouldn’t be for drinks. If “by feel some kind of way” you mean not respecting your bytchmade passive aggression then yea, that’s how I felt reading your post.

:coffee: ok, seems like you prefer dealing with your anger by negging people and talking tough online. the direct offer does stand, it would prolly be character building for you. unfortunately you clearly are weak and lack discipline, but that can be fixed in time if you chose to. good luck.

He's still African, he just grew up in the US.
An African-American is the descendant of slaves brought over here hundreds of years ago.
He has an African American mom though breh and that's who raised him when his pops
bit the dust.

So he's just as much AA as he is straight continental African.
