, I would have liked for BP to come up with an agreement with Killmonger, meet him half way (if possible) instead of killing him.

that's the point of killmonger, there was no half way, which is why he chose to die, it was either going to be his way or death.

remember he says, "anyone that does not agree kill them and there kids"

:coffee: ok, seems like you prefer dealing with your anger by negging people and talking tough online. the direct offer does stand, it would prolly be character building for you. unfortunately you clearly are weak and lack discipline, but that can be fixed in time if you chose to. good luck.

you from the east bay, I live in the east bay too.
you own a boxing gym, i might have to come through..pm me

what theater did you see black panther at, was it lit?

not going to go into in right now, but it depends on what your stance is. lets just say it would take something really extreme to eradicate "White Supremacy" and that is what I got the idea that Kilmonger was out to do. I broke this down to my children, we watched the movie twice. When you said there is a line we cant cross, you pretty much play into the hands of the same oppressors KM was referring to. there has to be a no compromise attitude. yes, lives will be lost on both sides, but if its a revolution, it has to be extreme. If Turner and Vesey didnt cross lines or saw boundaries with their revolution then :yeshrug:

as another speaker once said, we've tried everything we could try. Kilmonger was the real hero of that movie and crowded theater full of blacks that I was in still couldnt see that.

you can't cross that line and become the extreme oppressor= world war 3...you said lives would be lost, but the war would be lost.

every nation teaming up against us + super heroes vs. wakanda and other AA's.

we'e not winning that war on any front.

I didnt see him as an OD bad guy. What did he do that was REALLY evil in the film? burn the herbs? he did that for a reason. Everything he did he had a purpose, whether he explained it or we as the audience could figure it out. He was very disciplined. He wasnt disrespectfully out of line, vulgar, sadistic, or any of that. He had a clear plan and a mission. He wasnt greedy either. He just wanted what he wanted in an uncompromising fashion. He was a great "villain" to me.
I'm talking about him shooting his girlfriend, and when they burned the herbs he chokes and lifts that lady. It seemed so out of place. Like just random movie villain trope shyt.

Did they show the evil the CIA have done? The only true CIA representative in the movie was a ‘good’ guy who was clutch in saving the narrative.

These are all storytellling devices to manipuate the audience.

It’s politics. Again, Magneto and Killmonger are the same in worldview. But Magneto a white character we understand his pain and he’s shown not to be complete evil.

Imagine Killmonger isn’t so quick to kill Wakandan people or his girl. Imagine he spares them and shows them empathy and love. But still wants to start a revolution. We have a whole different angle then - then it’s a simple fact of ‘is Killmonger wrong?’ He had a claim to the throne. Won it fair and square and was doing things his way.

What BP done was a CIA backed coupe d’etat with Juju thrown in. If Killmonger wasn’t on killing his own would he be such a bad guy?

They make Killmonger an OD bad guy so you don’t have to wrestle with his politics as much. He’s so evil that it doesn’t matter. They don’t want you to overly sympathise with his worldview but Coogler got in a couple great monologues.

Again th fact is - all you see is the CIA dude as a good guy and Killmonger as a monster.
Hit the nail on the head.

I keep saying this, that Killmonger was portrayed to me an evil psychopath with little regard with his allies. If he was portrayed with having more empathy without disregard for his allies, then he wouldve been a much better villain. He’s basically became more of a millitant Joker without the charisma. A one-sided villain that the audience shouldn’t have any empathy with. But because of his end goals, the audience did feel empathy with him. That what pissed me off about his character, if he was white, he would’ve shown more empathy. I think his character should’ve been rounded out more, he wasn’t a soldier, he was more of a robot without any regard other then himself.

This is my whole fukking point. Why couldn't the movie based on this? Why did have to be black vs black? No way they would produce it. It makes white people look bad. But it's ok for black people to look bad at all times. Very disappointing.

Breh, part of the problem is that black people are only represented a few ways in film.

1. Thugs
2. Comic Relief
3. Magical Negros
4. Hyper-sexual

The triumph of this film is the fact that black people take up ALL the major roles without TRULY falling into any of those tropes. You could say Shuri is "comic relief" but she's also the smartest person in the entirety of the marvel film universe.

Part of why people allow white folks to make just about any film they want is because white people are afforded to be and act however they want in REAL life. So its a cyclical thing.

Could you imagine a black man playing Daniel-Day Lewis' charicter in "There Will Be Blood"? or a black Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho"?

All portrayals of black people don't need to be heroic...but they DO need to be diverse and complex. And that's why Killmonger is resonating with people so strongly.

Only thing that bothered me was watching black people fight each other but killmonger was about that life and that’s what begets that lifestyle. violence is a cycle

Because a war would have left 99% dead. Most black people cant shoot a gun let alone handle vibranium weapons.:mjlol:

Forget the military, how long before iron man, vision, hulk, and scarlet witch start killing THOUSANDS in self defense?
:gucci:How do you know this?

I learned to shoot at 6 years old as well as all my lil bros and i can guarantee you nikkas in the hood know how to shoot, you probably think nikkas out here shooting like
