People was anticipating for a Yayo album after 50 put out GROTD. He had some good verses here and there.
Yep, they were waiting for the album, and many ended up let down. When the unit was in their prime, that Free Yayo movement had everyone like :jbhmm:, dude dropped the ball big time with that and ended up being overshadowed by everyone else. 50 was the star of the group, Banks was the super lyricist, Buck brought the southern audience with him, Yayo was mediocre post release and didn't stand out.

Well he was a good rapper at times when he was focused. Listen to some of their freestyles and what not and listen to even their Flex freestyle from their reunion run. What I think it is imo is that after jail he lost his hunger for rapping cause he saw Fif's success so he was more like a hypeman.

When they first started Yayo was spitting but after that jail stint he was whack

he album had some joints on it though

live by the gun was hard plus dude had some of the hardest mixtape covers I’ve ever seen lol
All facts :russ: After jail he just wasn't spitting consistently and fell into the hype man role.

Yayo was good in the group when they were still on.. I honestly thought he was best during the Return of the body Snatchers- Elephant in the Sand- TOS stretch.. His candence was blunt, simple and funny which was great for 8 bars (dont go 16 though).... This song I thought was perfect Yayo on it...

Honestly the mixtape run he did with Danny Brown, like Hawaian Snow, SOD and Black Friday was pretty good too

DMX a fool for this one :laff:

That substance had DMX questioning who was Obama .. "Barack??!!" :dead:

Basically called Yayo the U-God of G-Unit.
I'm not a super fan of Yayo, but now I want to listen to his catalog, because he does have his own tracks, lots of features and G-Unit verses.

But just like U-God he added his on distinctive flow and lyrics to the group. So to answer the question, G-Unit was better to have Tony Yayo than not have him. Every member doesn't have to be amazing, sometimes you need one member just to provide a slightly off center vibe from the rest of the group to keep things interesting.

Beg for Mercy is classic and he played a great role in that.

Of course Lloyd Banks was better lyricist, but Tony Yayo played his position well.

Like with this track..he provided the aggressive background hype that made the track go even harder...visual and audio-wise

Yayo was only in two songs on the Beg For Mercy album.
