If this were a YouTube video it’d do numbers

:russ: I think there might be a few out there questioning the legitimacy of his drug persona past though.

I just was wondering if it made much sense. It's like me and you leaving our city making millions a week to fly off to Australia to make a couple hundred dollars a month for a newish fad called "afro-beats". Because I don't think many 1988 hustlers would leave NYC for hiphop in London, England.

Damn Jay worked at Crown Fried? He came a long way.

He's hard work ethic is unquestionable a lot of other sh1t is though.

I still remember watching him on MTV Mariah Carey making the video and he had to sit in the tub for the Scarface bathroom scene. It was only after the video was done that he told MTV how cold the water was. I thought wow this dude is professional and a good dude.

That's just real talk.

Above the fray.
OP

First, fukk vlad. Outsiders openly disrespect Black people because they figure that we will forget 5 minutes later and go right back to supporting their content. They laugh at us.

Between the time between Jaz O's record deal and him resurfacing as a solo artist himself, was likely when Jay was running the streets.

In the Streets is Watching film, they show old music videos he was doing, promoting hustling lifestyle. Famously drinking and pouring Crystal before it became a fad in clubs

and he cleverly made a joke about that in an early record from the Stretch and Bobbito era

"...and now you see me jiggy, you're puzzled/
He aint selling no records, is he? That dude gotta hustle/"

This was for a BLAZE magazine article many many years ago lol, Yeah Jay a man of many cloths.
Jay Z gonna do a Nardwuar interview and receive the burger spatula he used at Crown Fried :mjlol:

Nardwuar voice: we’re with Jay Z a man that knows about flipping brrr… *Jay Z looks back slow to catch on*
about flipping brrrrr

*puts the mic to Jay Z* birds (Jay Z voice)

Nardwuar: burgers!

So I have a gift for you, Nardwuar says to Jay

*Narwuar reaches into his back and pulls out old spatula from bag*

So I guess he wasn’t getting chased through his building

I think you maybe right.

Everything else seems to fit into place outside of the timeline but yeah the in my lifetime era was like 1991 or 1992, which was before the deal you are right.

His people are legit so yeah and also Fcuk DJ Vlad but he just has a stack of Interviews I need to watch like the Raekwon one too :russ:

One of the GOAT rap magazine pics is the black and white version :wow:

@JMD Knows Jigga was outside

Jay moves way too smart. It's clear he knows how to make money lol.

I think it was Cam who said he saw TahTah with Jay eating Burgers and TahTah pulled out the biggest wad of stacks he ever seen.

Just asking them questions though :russ:

This here.

Sauce said that Jay left the streets when he was running with Jaz, and didn't want to go back once he saw that music could make him some music. He said Big Daddy Kane stepped in to manage him for a little while, and Jay left the streets for good when he started to focus more on the music and getting on.

But if you knew staying in your city would lead to you Dead or locked up and could already be under investigation you would be making a smart decision
