Did Sean Peyton offer an explanation for that game plan Saturday?

Yes... especially when you have a top QB and you're playing against two deep safeties to take away the big play. You SHOULD run the football.

When you go down 16-0 though you dont get extra credit for establishing the run.

establishing the run helped them get back in the game with play action and Brees finding guys down the field... Saints made too many mistakes and left points on the field though to boot.

:what: Why would you want to play a vertical offense and go :smugfavre: against one of the best secondaries of the decade on the road? Jimmy Graham, his main target got shut down. :yeshrug: Teams can run on the Seahawks, which is there main weakness on defense. Russell Wilson looked like more like the game manager out there than Brees did though. Seahawks just have their number and the Saints offense is much better at home than on the road.

Trying to get Sproles in space I thought killed them...as Seattle's defense is way too fast and it pretty much tips off the play when he checks in. They tried running one with Ingram but he cant catch.

Can the team thats 25th in the league in rushing run on them?

Seattle was 7th against the run this year
these stats skew the perspective. while their run d is good their pass d is incredible

the seahags gave up 200+ rushing yards twice, and gave up 130+ 7 times total

out of those 7 times, 2 times they lost the game and the other 5 times were against carolina (narrow win), houston (narrow OT win), TB (narrow OT win), st louis (narrow win)

see the pattern ? if you're able to get 130+ run yards on seattle, you will at least have a close game.

on the contrary, since week 4, hags havent allowed more than 208 yards passing and in that period had NINE games holding opposing offenses to under 170 yards passing

seriously, its a no brainer.

NO!

when you have a top QB you should throw the ball
they ran the ball alright aginst them

and you keep ignoring that they played in a storm :beli:

108 and 4.2 YPC is not alright... its a waste of time

They got back in the game by throwing the ball downfield

Agreed once they went no huddle they stopped playing scared. They did squat offensively in the first half.

The Saints are not getting that type of production with their running game against Seattle.

That was a guarantee going into the game

that was their only chance. but yeah, depending 100% on the qb to win games is the reason.

they couldnt do shyt with their secondary in the first game, and seahags disrespected the shyt out of hem by putting the usual 9-10 in the box against a high-powered offense

you gotta understand saints pass game is predicated on accuracy, precision and timing. seattle secondary plays press, does sneaky holds, and game was in shytty ass weather. worst possible situation for them

Saints were down 16-8 and on the Seattle 25 yard line and fell apart. Momentum had swung a bit and then they strangely decided to kick a long fg.

Shouldhe have tried to air it out and go mike martz on the best secondary in the league during a monsoon?
His response?
...

people who dont watch football exposing themselves

saints call a ton of screen plays, thats their MO. drew brees RB had more yards on screens than jamaal charles, and we know alex smith loves to checkdown
saints in general check down a ton.

running against seattle is a far better proposition than airing it out like an idiot. drew brees averaged less than 3 yards per passing attempt while saints run game averaged 5+ yards per carry in the first half.

the gameplan was completely right.
