Peace fam, from my observation I don't think non-believers are trying to tear down any faith because it offers hope. But they wanna know if the claims being made are true. Also are you okay with something giving people hope even if it's not true? Like psychics or mediums that claim they can speak to the dead, and give people that are suffering from a loss of a loved one hope that they are in a better place? if it was proven that those claims were false, it sounds like you would be okay with them doing it because it gives people hope. You say Christianity offers hope that things will get better, but so does Islam, Mormonism, and Friea the supernatural fairy
but are the claims real? this video is a great example of a guy giving somebody hope even though his claims are false, yes he is a fellow Christian giving hope to people that have illnesses and handicaps
People are going to do what people do and I know people look for truth where it doesn't exist. There is a much larger percentage of people that play the lotto then attend church. I know some people who have gotten disillusioned after a few years in church but have no problem with the lottery after 25+ years. Some prefer casinos and as you said psychics. Even better there are TV prosperity preachers asking for people to sow a seed and get back 7xs their investment. Sowing a financial seed is not biblical and people do it everyday.
There is nothing I can say or do that will override someone else's free will. I can show people the chances of winning the lottery, I can show the arrest records of ms. Cleo, I can show the payouts done by casinos but in the end people are going to do what they want. It's not that I'm OK my thoughts are what happens when a person finally understands the big payoff or whatever they seek will never be realized and fair warning was given?
