Yes it was warranted. Welcome to adult life, how old are you?. Employers also have no-fault policies so it good you learned this lesson early.
yea. why throw away all the hard work you did too on a whim?
i woulda told homeboy to wait or better yet to follow me to class while i hand some shyt in.

disappointed in OP

i personally would be disappointed in myself for not getting the A

Yep. Obviously I'm being an entitled Biatch.

You right.

But it was my birthday. Class at 8pm to 10pm, bro I haven't seen in 3 years shows up for the night only. Da fuq am I supposed to do. Tell my bro I gotta hit class and get back to the crib at 1030/11pm.

you could have gone to class turn in it in person and explained the teacher that you have to leave early. but I would not have given you a 50 that stupid.

You didn't read the story. My presentation was not until the NEXT class. I did not miss anything except the handing in of the project in a binder.

There were no presentation. I presented on the correct day at the correct time.
but lets say as an accountant you had to send a copy to your boss/client for review before the meeting...you dont think that client would have your ass in trouble with your boss if you wait til the day of the presentation to give ?

Yeah I understand that breh.

My thing is, if that is the case. I added in the email that it was even outlandish as a story but I had documentation of the proof of it. Plane tickets, dinner receipts, receipt of me picking up the physical portfolio from fedex days before, etc.

I don't see why he didn't ask for proof.if I was a professor, the first thing I'd do is verify the date of birth, then ask for verification that his strong is true and he wasn't skipping to party or finish the assignment.
professors are lazy. aint no professor doing all that shyt

If that's the case why didn't you drop it off at the beginning of class and tell your professor you're going to be with your family who you rarely see and then leave?

That's doing too much and going out of his way, if he wanted to he could've did all that extraness but honestly...if he does it for you, he has to do it for everybody else that would ask. You knew the process and didn't follow it, and it was a good reason you didn't, I put fam over everything too, so I would've took that L with no complaints.

Long story short, don't expect understanding when you're not following protocol...Take that L breh
Yep, extra is a good word for it.

I still fell it's unfair to allow people to come into class and turn in a major project after the class has started. Work is due at the beginning of class. All late work should be penalized.

If this were a math or writing class, it would be unheard of to show up 15 to 30 minutes late and get full credit if you didn't make

No sure where you are going here because the presentation was not until 2 days later and was scheduled in advance 16 weeks out. I didnt turn it in earlier because it was the day of the return from thanksgiving break that it was due. Mon and Wednesday class, would mean that I would have had to turn the project in approx. 10 days early, since it had to be handed in in person. The class was a heavy workload and the purpose of it being due after the break was that we had downtime to finish it.

If i didn't prove that the prof was the one who fukked up by not posting the dates of the exams on Blackboard I would've been fukked.

I would have been late to class and I included in m email that I could show up late, but I'm under the impression as with all other professors, LATE work is LATE.

If I was a prof, i would never accept work either on time after 5 minutes from the start of class. If I can't get credit for attendance for being 10 minutes late, why should others be given credit for on time work like they were when they were beyond 10 minutes late.

breh why are you still in here trying to explain yourself or rationalize your decision.

you chose to prioritize family over a grade and i commend you for it, but you already acknowledged it was your choice and you dont wanna come across as a diva. So swallow the consequence. You're 24 so you should know by now that professors are lazy and careless. What he did shouldn't come as a surprise to you at all...especially if you're black.

I once had a grade dropped from an A+ to an A- because I skipped class every now and then and didnt sign the attendance form. Truth is many ppl skipped class cause it was at 8:30 but they had a rotation of friends who would sign the attendance for like 5-10 ppl at once. I had no friends in that class and I suffered. I complained to the professor but it was futile. This is just how school is. They're lazy, narcissistic a$$holes for the most part. It's bullshyt but I decided that sleeping after all nighters for other classes was more important than getting those "easy" attendance marks so be it.

for the 70th time, once my fam arrived, I had to get him situated. Gave him a key, the code to my APT, ect. I don't live next to campus. I would have been later. So I would not have made the beginning of class since its a 45 minutes drive (normally 15) due to traffic.

I'm not being a diva. Thread is dead.

It doesn't surprise me at all and I'm not justifying anything. I however, am saying that it's bullshyt to give everyone full credit who showed up late. I know quite a few ppl in my class who did a quarter the work (were still in the library at the time of the class starting ... last minute) and were 20 to 30 minutes late, and received a higher grade than I did.

I'm not taking it to a dean or gonna bother talking to the prof. I just personally feel its bullshyt to not expect others to be penalized as well in the same way that I was. Late work is late work.

Exactly what you should have done. The biggest thing college does for you is get you ready for the real world. You are going to have plenty of times the rest of your life where you are going to have to make decisions between things you want to do, vs things you need to do. Then, YOU will have to deal with the consequences. This was no different. It's harsh, but at the end of the day, this professor teaches many students. To him, more than likely your just another number. You got a 50, when he could have easily given you a 0. Do you think if your brother, whom is in the military, had to be somewhere for the military, and you popped up he could just drop his responsibility, and he not be reprimanded? :usure:You got a B instead of an A, :yeshrug:. If it's that big of a deal to you, make sure you learn from it.

OP is an idiot, blames others for his actions

professors are lazy man. they use the same test banks for years...same lecture notes for years and everything. they're used to routine...its just how they are. you broke the routine he was used to so he penalized you.

notice the example i mentioned before. the professor passed around a sheet of paper to sign peoples names and he mustve known ppl who didnt attend class would have their friends sign in for them. but he didnt care. to his lazy ass it isnt about the fairness...cause if it was he would take time to watch ppl as they sign in. these professors dont give a fukk, they have a lot of liberty breh

I'm an actual accountant. I've had a manager from another group I sent a report to panic because i hadnt set the print area ahead of time and he couldnt figure out how to get everything on one page (page break was already set in word...but not the print area....its a difference lol). Dude literally said it was a "disaster"

I wanted to slap the fukkin taste out his mouth because during the project he had already acted a fool and i was basically doing him a favour by doing the work but I had to stay composed and just set the print area. He was somebody in our marketing division but nonetheless...thats how these old heads are. Your professor was that business development manager i was working with. You sending the project by email was me not remembering to set the print area.

These kinds of ppl want shyt spoonfed.
