He cut and pasted his own shyt, though. This dude holds the world record for most publications ever. Like the dude could produce some shyt.

He was invariably a genius. You don't have to like him or support what he did with it, but he is a fasicinating human being.

And if we acknowledge that he was indeed psychotic, meaning having consistent fixed false delusions, then perhaps we can view his belief system under a different moral lens in this light.

The main thing I took away from this is that all religions that propagate to some extent have very clever conventions, and via those conventions followers of those religions can't always discern how absurd some beliefs are. I also think the dynamic surrounding Scientology is interesting because it's a religion fostered in modernity.

Considering that HBO is at the top of it's game right now, I wonder how many celebrities would make an escape from Scientology if HBO came at them with a project offer? I imagine that Hyde from that 70s show would drop the "religion" in a hot minute if he had a chance of being on the next season of True Detective or a background player on Game of Thrones instead of shytty basic cable shows. And you already know David Miscrazy put out the formal word that anyone that works with or watches HBO is a suppressive person that must be shipped to the "rehabilitation" compound for the next decade, so are we going to start hearing stories about Hyde/Kirstie Alley/lesser known but still known types disappearing for years at a time?

I did a project on this back in undergrad for my Religion in America class. My group member and I went to their place in Philly and everything.

We did the presentation and called it a cult...I felt really bad because at the time I took a step back and I was like damn that was really intolerant of me.

After watching this special....man...we only scraped the surface

Precisely. Scientology is fascinating. Anybody with a reasonable level of skepticism who was not forced in however should eventually see the contradictions. However anyone looking for meaning and purpose in a life could easily fall victim to this mind control. I would hope that the internet however provides a source for people to become enlightened and escape.

But honestly, I understand, because I still feel guttural pangs of sheer guilt when I consider that Jesus Christ may not have been the son of God. Like I have considered every rational possibilty as to how improbable it is yet I'm still at the thought. Haha, so I understand. But no way in fukking hell would you catch me cleaning public toilets in the name of JesusOr giving some fukknikka preacher my hard earned bread because his bytchass said Jesus said so But if it socially required for me to acknowledge Jesus for political/corporate/job/work/my own personal benefit then Im praising Jeeeeeessssuuussssssss waaaallkkssss

I'd be surprised if they haven't already infiltrated it and are just waiting for a leak in the dam. But then again Scientology is mostly so i doubt the going at them with the force of say the Panthers or a Sihk Temple...

I'm torn. Part of me agrees with you, but then the other part thinks that Scientology is too rich and too quick to sue for the government to fukk with in any real kind of way. Just like how the government won't go after the big companies to pay taxes or come after rich people for crimes that poor people get the chair for committing. After all, Scientology did actually win the war against the IRS by annoying them for years and then had them posing in those shiny, happy pictures.

Real talk though, I hope you are right that they've already infiltrated and are waiting for their moment. Any group that can kidnap and lock up members for years because they didn't follow some rule or had the wrong attitude is a scary misuse of power under the guise of religious freedom.

I thought they clearly said or implied in the doc that Travolta had basically used their enforcers for his own good. It made me think that he has some bodies on him.
