Yes, Dallas did the opposite, missed the playoffs twice, and have been knocked out of the first round 4 times since their championship run. They have been getting worse since Dirk took his first pay cut and they haven't been able to lure top free agents either.

That article is very misleading. Yeah he has left some money on the table but a 5 year deal at age 36 that would pay him 48 million a year? That was never on the table and that makes up most of that 192 million. The number is actually in the 30-50 million range and that was enough for them to write about without trying to sensationalize it.
