now you can argue the basis of this law, OR you can acknowledge that such discrimination exists.
The laws blacks had against them were far more brutal and systematic then the laws gays currently have. Even if you compare the two in terms of severity 100 years ago, the gay experience was easier than the black one. No one can see another person's sexuality so the adverse treatment isn't as widely distributed relative to what, say, an ethnic minority group might face.
