Off 2 listens.

I like 5/7 of these a lot. I do wish it was like 2-3 songs more. A solid 10-piece here would’ve been great.

On the other hand. It’s free and they did say it was only an EP from the jump.

I think this will be a devicive project. One thing that’s good and bad about Roc doing drumless is sometimes he does these crazy flows where he stuffs a ton of words into the pocket. It can be real dope but other times I don’t like it as much (Cryotherapy is a good example of this). The drums on this album are very conventional, and IMO they kind of force Roc to stay in certain pockets and flows that I like.

The big complaint some folks will have on that is that the production might sound dated here and there.

- The rapping on Glory Hole is insane.
- Armani Section’s been fire since I heard it earlier this year.
- Good to Go is super hard. Some super funny adlibs too. Slower flow reminiscent of older Roc.
- Execution Style sounds like Preem doing more of a Roc style beat.
- Travel Fox is real smooth. I miss Roc doing these mid-tempo flows. That’s a good part of this album
- RocMarkable and Prayer Hands might have to grow on me a little bit.
Is it like UN Roc? :jbhmm:

Premo is the type of producer where I really don't want much experimentation

His core sound is so iconic and raw that I prefer his beats like RocMarkable over Glory Hole... But I also like when Roc does weird flows like this

Glad we got this anyways, there's definitely some good shyt on here

Truth.

Primo's sound is wild iconic, but I think that's kinda the gift and the curse.

Same pattern of scratches, same knock, same structure, etc. I think the album starts off strong with "Armani Section" and "Good To Go" (I still don’t like "Prayer Hands") and then the production kinda slides into forgettable territory. But Roc is still being Roc on this, and I think he carries the album nicely. It's not on the level of The Elephant Man's Bones or The Skeleton Key, but it's just cool to get something new from Marci. Decent little project. Just about what most people expected, I think.
