thats not true. you cant polish shyt and present it as gold. timbo tried it with magoo how that work? preemo tried it with group home? how that work?

the talent has to be there and its luck involved with this. dre talented quik talented but if you dont get lucky and get access to talent you cant reach your full potential.

yea no one knew snoop until he worked woth dre but he was a talented muhfukka and couple that with dre genius dre made him a star but he already had star potential.

you cant make anyone a star. no matter how talented of a producer you are. you have to have something to work with.

Magoo actually has a platinum album though that had three hits. He actually was successful with artists who weren't necessarily stars, but still had success with his production.

It has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with factors such as chemistry, production, timing, and the music actually connecting.

The '84 Babies
Home Alone is Quik all day
I think in the case of this song it was red tape preventing quik with getting the proper credit. It was an issue with Profile where they wouldn't let him produce outside artists under the name DJ Quik. So in some cases he have G-1 take credit for production. It happened in the case of this

its labeled has G-1 as the producer but Quik (along with G-1 and Rob Bacon) were on production. Dwele mentioned before how Quik worked on this record. Its kinda weird cause as long as he was featured as an artist on the song Profile would let him put produce by DJ Quik for example

both are credited as produced by DJ Quik and it also feature him as an artist. But look at Heartz of Men. While pac does say his name on the record the linear notes say his government David Blake. This was cause Profile was taking a cut of the profits under quik (which is the reason he linked up with Suge to help him out that situation). I think if it wasn't that he would've been able to get his name out there more and be recognized on a more mainstream level.

I still say this is a Quik production

he got that as a duo with timbo. he wasnt the lead or solo act.

snoop dropped doggystyle as the lead act.

you gone sit here and act like people were running to listening to an album with magoo cus of magoo like people did snoop with doggystyle?

you serious?

He didn't put anyone on.
He didnt create death row or aftermath,
No Eminem, no 50 cent,
None of his albums fukking with any of dre's except COMPTON and COMPTON better than quik new shyt.
His songs aint better than dre's, he is a more talented musician skillset wise but the MUSIC dont sound better than Dr. Dre's.
I don't agree. Replies below.
  • Mausberg, 2ndIINone, Hi-C, list goes on. (Like he said, didn't have the machine Dre had.)
  • Yeah he didn't create Death Row. But he damn near made Dogg Food and All Eyez on Me (this album IS Quik). If you know you know. I guess you don't?
  • Nah no Eminem, but who cares? fukk Eminem, who the fukk want to listen to that garbage? But he did co produce countless Aftermath hits and co produced 'In Da Club'. The song that made 50.
  • Every single one of his albums is better than anything Dre has released post 2001 Chronic. All facts.
  • Songs for the most part are on par with all Dre's, especially better post 2005. Dre has bigger songs, because of a machine. But not necessarily better.
  • Dre's shyt sounds like a over mastered and mixed hot garbage more often than not post 2005. Why the fukk you think he never releases anything? Because his shyt stinks like over cooked meat. Dre is trash post 2005.

How Quik “deserve” to be where Dre is when Dre himself had to dust himself off and go back to the drawing board at one point?

Sad hearing that bytch shyt

He's been saying it for twenty years +?

Dre has put out a tonne more hot garbage in his career than Quik from a production standpoint. If we going on that list mano e mano, Quik got him easy.

So much of Dre's music has aged like absolute dog shyt. Over mixed, sonic messes.

Quik is an amazing talent, but he never curated the level of talent Dre did.

Let's keep it a bean here. Outside of D.O.C and the Lady of Rage, who did Dre really brought in? Eazy-E curated all that talent for Ruthless. Ice Cube was Sir Jinx' homie who was Dre's cousin, so Dre got with Cube by default. Snoop was Warren G's homie and we know Warren G is Dre stepbrother. So, Dre inherited getting Snoop, Nate Dogg, RBX who's Snoop's cousin, Daz who was Snoop's other cousin and pretty much Tha Dogg Pound in essence. And we know Eminem was per chance however THAT story went as to who heard the tape. But 50 Cent was through Eminem and 50 Cent had his G-Unit shyt and Eminem had his Shady shyt, and then there's Kendrick to which we know that TDE.

It's just by HAPPENSTANCE because Dre after the Chronic blew, EVERYONE wanted to get with Dre. And that machine really helped that album to blow because for DAMN SURE had BLACK MAFIA LIFE had that same push and came out a month earlier rather than a month later, Cold 187um may have been that go to GUY pushing forward the G-Funk sound.

Dre is fortunate. That's said, DJ QUIK did bring in AMG, 2nd II None, Mossburg, Suga Free , Hi-C.... it's just again, the backing of the machine.

Dr. Dre didn't do that. Dr. Dre left Death Row and automatically was GIVEN his own label from Jimmy. Dre ALWAYS benefited having Iovine on his side. There was no "drawing board". Dre always had the machine backing him.
