Dr. Dre didn't do that. Dr. Dre left Death Row and automatically was GIVEN his own label from Jimmy. Dre ALWAYS benefited having Iovine on his side. There was no "drawing board". Dre always had the machine backing him.

nobody was fukking with Dre when he was doing Aftermath Presents..

One song anyone took to...The White Boy gave him new life

nikkax were wondering out loud if Dre was done

I was there

Let's keep it a bean here. Outside of D.O.C and the Lady of Rage, who did Dre really brought in? Eazy-E curated all that talent for Ruthless. Ice Cube was Sir Jinx' homie who was Dre's cousin, so Dre got with Cube by default. Snoop was Warren G's homie and we know Warren G is Dre stepbrother. So, Dre inherited getting Snoop, Nate Dogg, RBX who's Snoop's cousin, Daz who was Snoop's other cousin and pretty much Tha Dogg Pound in essence. And we know Eminem was per chance however THAT story went as to who heard the tape. But 50 Cent was through Eminem and 50 Cent had his G-Unit shyt and Eminem had his Shady shyt, and then there's Kendrick to which we know that TDE.

It's just by HAPPENSTANCE because Dre after the Chronic blew, EVERYONE wanted to get with Dre. And that machine really helped that album to blow because for DAMN SURE had BLACK MAFIA LIFE had that same push and came out a month earlier rather than a month later, Cold 187um may have been that go to GUY pushing forward the G-Funk sound.

Dre is fortunate. That's said, DJ QUIK did bring in AMG, 2nd II None, Mossburg, Suga Free , Hi-C.... it's just again, the backing of the machine.

Yep.

And he flopped like dogshyt and still kept getting propped up (The Aftermath album). He's even deleted that album from his discography.

It's easy when you literally have Universal records handfeeding you endless budgets your entire career.

I don't buy that "Well, Quik worked with mediocre artists his whole career" as a reason why he never was seen as big as Dre. Put it this way, Timbaland had Magoo. MAGOO. This dude had a platinum album with hit songs.
Forget Timbaland's resume brehs

He didn't put anyone on.
HE didnt create NWA, eazy-e, ice cube, d.o.c., snoop dogg, shyt not even a michell'e
He didnt create death row or aftermath,
No Eminem, no 50 cent,
None of his albums fukking with any of dre's except COMPTON and COMPTON better than quik new shyt.
His songs aint better than dre's, he is a more talented musician skillset wise but the MUSIC dont sound better than Dr. Dre's.
He getting that bitter pete rock bitter nikka syndrome and quik was always a smooth fly playalistic nikka being bitter don't look good on him.

He need to go get a facial, perm his hair goto an open mic and discover a nikka, because being a bitter west coast Original Not a ganxsta.
Makes him look... well... LIKE A BYTCH.

Sincerely,

a westcoast nikka who bump's quik groove's while smashing hoes.

Matter of fact he need to drop a quik's groove album show off his instrumentation real talk.

1. Dre didn't create NWA. Eazy-E did.
2. Dre didn't create Death Row. Suge Knight with Harry-O & dikk Griffey did. And still it was Interscope's push to bring mainstream access.
3. Contrary to popular belief, Dre did not discovered Eminem. An intern from Interscope did and Jimmy Iovine told Dre to sign him. Dre didn't even know how Eminem looked like and thought he was black, and Iovine pitched to Dre on how much they can made by having a talented white rapper.
4. 50 Cent when he was a free agent in 2022 was the hottest thing on the streets that every label wanted to sign. Eminem was the one that brought 50 Cent there to Aftermath. Dre had nothing to do with that.
5. The fact is DJ Quik was the first and maybe the rare FEW that made it big from Compton WITHOUT being part of the Dr. Dre umbrella. And without a need of a production team to help him unlike Dr. Dre who in his entire career had a team assembled around him, whether it is DJ Yella, Daz, Warren G, Scott Storch, Mike Elizondo, Mel-Man, Colin Wolfe, Stan the Guitar Man and so on and so on. We can give credit for Dr. Dre having a gift in engineering, but let's not overrate that his albums are so-called "better" when DJ Quik is his OWN MUSICIAN that plays his OWN INSTRUMENTS and actually WRITE his music which is why his music has more of a musicality to it.
6. And Quik's tweet isn't bitterness or anything out of spite at Dre. He is speaking FACTS. Dre benefited mainly because there was a machine backing him. In fact, had he not met Eazy-E, we wouldn't be talking about Dre like we are today. DJ Quik came up and did it on his own from the mud. It is what it is. He knows he is equally as gifted as Dre, but the music industry is a political game.

Yall can say this until you blue in the face, it's simply not true. There's not one Quik album better than the Chronic or 2001.

The Chronic and 2001 were COLLABORATIVE efforts that Dre couldn't achieve on his own. Especially with The Chronic when Dre pretty much looked at what Above the Law was cooking and outright bit their production concepts and allow Snoop to pretty much carry the album.

What solo album Dre done that's genuinely a SOLO ALBUM? Then we compare that with Quik's catalogue.

Again, you do understand there's a MACHINE backing Dr. Dre. Hits aren't ever organic when you have that machine. That's like saying Drake is better than Black Thought because Drake has the hits and Black Thought do not, negating everything else. We know Drake has a machine around him. That's the same with Dre and always been the case. Imagine Quik having Just Lyke Compton be on heavy rotation on MTV back in those days when MTV didn't push rap videos like that aside from Yo! MTV Raps. Interscope was able to get Dre on radio rotation that NO rap artist could achieve.
