I honestly prefer this voice he was using back then. His enunciation was clearer.

He plays some of his old joints on the documentary (around 13:00 mark) he even admits his flow was way better back then.

Knick Knack Patty Wack came out in 89 / DMX was biting

very fitting that it features the classic line "my man came over and said yo i thought we heard you, jokes on you, you heard a biting ass crew"
(also ends with "some rappers immitate ..")
:ohhh::ohhh::ohhh: Yoooooooooo!:ohhh:

It's dope that X rapped so long he eventually developed his own completely original style

I used to listen to that deeper record heavy even though I never had a good quality version

I had made a best of unreleased and features X double cd in like 01 back when label makers for CDs first came out..

I'm still lookin for that that nikkas Is Up To No Good track in high quality.

:mindblown::wtf:

that's crazy. DMX literally sounds nothing like what we know him as in the songs from the OP.

not even the voice :damn:,

he said his name a couple times and mentioned the Spellbound shyt but i'm still in disbelief :skip:

:whoo:

he was nice with that Rakim/Kane style.

u aint ever supposed to trust a crackhead....If X says he started spellbound then the truth is the exact opposite.

X wasnt saying shyt back then with that 80s flow. Glad he slowed shyt down, found his own voice and style and started to make meaningful songs

dmx grew up in jail

he and solo were probably in juvie together

Solo killed Knick Knack though

EDIT:

KSolo first album came out in 1990

a year after his feature on Knick Knack (from Unfinished Business which came out in '89)

On his debut album his song "Fugitive" tells the story of him being locked up

so I'm thinking he and X were inside together in the mid to late 80s

He definitely had a whole different style. He plays some of his old songs in his “One More Road” documentary and talks about how his flow was much better then.
