One thing is clear, we need to be better archivist of our history.
That's a fact.
I remember sitting in an AfAms class with only 3 white kids in there. They knew a LOT of info about the class subject and were sonning the entire room during the first few classes. I still have the video footage of how the professor looked at us(the Black students) when that first class was over.

His claims are still dubious.
Even so, based off of the article, it doesn't appear that black slaves had anything to do with the sandwich which originally comprised of french bread and boiled or fried oysters.

The pulled pork/brisket situation is still murky.
BBQ itself is an influence of african, spanish (barbacoa) and native influences.

Don’t see the point in bringing up bbq’s multi-ethnic origin as disqualifying when many sandwiches in general tend to be multi-ethnic creations.

Like Italian Beef and Tortas for example...
