You're contradicting yourself. Anyway, black men oppress black women socially. Not institutionally. You're right in that we don't have the power to oppress them institutionally. Also, Its all about context. When we talk about oppression, and privilege you should always remember that it is in relation to black women. That is the context in which these types of conversations are being had.
Ok what I am getting at is that oppression is a strong word to use. The definition of oppression is using your power in stifling the oppressed. So are black men oppressing each other with black male on black male gun violence? We are socially oppressing each other by roasting each other, fighting each other and killing each am I right? You see how absurd that sounds. And secondly alot black feminist who say those talking points will say black men are the scum of the Earth, we are the "white people of the black race," etc. Do black women have legit issues with black men in not building our communities, our lack of taking accountable action ? Hell yeah! In the thread where black women are providing in the large majority of black families I said this is an embarrassment and that black men need to do better because if the men fail to lead the community is vulnerable to our enemies. But when they use hyperbolic talking points nikkas aint gonna hear it cuz its dumb. Equating us to white men who have dont countless crimes to African people around the globe is not a way to start dialogue. Because its delves in gender wars.

and quite frankly the problem with these threads is alotta of you nikkas don't care about even fixing the problem. shyt you won't even hear the problem.

You just wanna preserve the feelings of Black males.

Same shyt we get on CACs for.

Truth hurts brehs. If you're fukking up you should want to be told and shoulder your share of the blame. Not play mental and linguistic gymnastics to dodge responsibility.
And you have yet to explain how black men oppress black women.

So in this thread, once again, I've seen a bunch of cowardly black men tell black women their experiences, tell black women what they need to change, but defect and use the excuse of having no power to absolve black men of any responsibility in our collective continued oppression of black women. To your point, maybe black women should "withdraw support" from black men in general and focus solely on their own unique issues since they get nothing in return for focusing on ours.
The average black man doesn't get any support from some unknown black woman you dummy!:russ:

These threads always bring up the same dumbass examples.

1. Rap music
2. Domestic abuse
:comeon:

Neither of these things apply to black men on a large scale, nor are they forced on black women. Don't like rap music. Don't listen to it. Don't like being in an abusive relationship. Leave him and never return.

Nobody is "forced" into these positions. Oppression doesn't give you a choice. You cannot escape it.
The fvck does it even mean to oppress someone "socially" ???:pachaha:You dummies are putting rap music/domestic abuse (which is a crime) in the same category as slavery, genocide, job discrimination, etc.

Institutionally? No. We don't have the power to do that. Socially? Yes!

Speak for yourself.

Give an example of how you, Knuckles Red, oppress black women.

I'm seeing a lot of sweeping absolutes but very specific personal examples of said oppression.

This is a forum full of black men right? If you brehs are oppressing women, speak up.

But I won't hold my breath, cuz some of y'all have no.idea what oppression even means.

I was talking about black men as a collective. Social oppression describes relationships between categories of people. Not individuals.

But that sounds dangerously close to Black feminism, and they are angry at that too.

Truth is, you'll never get Black men on here to admit the problem because they are resounding misogynists. The oppression that Black women face at the hands of Black men is oppression they think Black women deserve because we are women. So they see our oppression simply as every woman's lot in life, that's why they are quick to bring up other races of men's misogyny too, as if that makes it better or more acceptable. For them, anti-Blackness, even though practiced for centuries and true the world over = wrong, but sexism, even though practiced for centuries and true the world over = a fact of life women need to get over and accept.

Black misogynists are also very good at making any oppression Black women face a result of her own choice, while at the same time exerting the idea that Black men's choices are inconsequential because of white supremacy. For instance, gang banging and criminal activity by Black men that leads them to death or jail is a result of systemic oppression by white people, but Black teenage pregnancy and Black single motherhood are just bad choices by Black women. Even though these things are obviously connected.

Meanwhile, white men using the exact same arguments and tactics against Black men to prove their inferiority is what they claim that the entire community, including the Black women they view as inferior, should focus on to move forward. And they screech about divisiveness whenever anybody refuses to accept any part of their identity that isn't Black, and male, and straight as inferior. It'd be funny if the hypocrisy wasn't so poisonous and tearing the community apart.

True. Every single word. And its sad that they can't see the power dynamics between black men and black women vs white people and black people and just how similar they are. The dominate group putting all the responsibility and blame on the minority group while clearing itself of any. But that is privilege.

Then the same must be true for the oppression Black men face at the hands of white men. God made you the weaker men that white and other men can dominate. If you think that tripe is true, I don't have anything further to say to you. I don't agree with it, but at least your logic is consistent. If you disagree with that, then rethink this whole post you made and try again.

What is the black man doing to stop you from being the best PartyHeart you can be
and how can we assist you in attaining that goal? :jbhmm:

I am the best PartyHeart I can be at this very moment :queen: But I'm always improving and growing. Right now a group of about 10 of us, Black women and our spouses, are all going to try to eat organic only and eliminating processed foods and refined sugar for a quarter. Its just in our small circle, but we want to be healthier and eat cleaner and see how it effects our lives, so we can find a way to get that message to the community in a replicable way.

I think @Knuckles Red has done a good job of giving some brief insights to the privilege Black men have over Black women within the community though. Read through his posts. But if you really want to know and understand, you'll do your own research from there because it leads directly to the oppression we face. That's if you take the Black women's plight seriously and actually care to improve our lives in the ways that you can as a Black man.

This music is everywhere. Your friends, family, co workers may listen to any one of these rappers mocking Black Women, or spouting some colorist agenda.

Are black men victims of DV more than BW? What about sexual assault?

:mjpls:

You still have the option of avoiding it:wtf:

Just like women in these videos have the option of not showing up to a shoot to exploit themselves for a quick buck

not to say that those forms of media are not damaging to the psyche of black woman.... but that's not oppression

oppression is being raised on some backwater village in the middle east, being told that you have to be covered at all times or suffer the lash, not given the opportunity to even learn to read but only marry and breed and if your husband cheats, not him, but you get stoned to death.....

that's oppression

Black men have the option of not going to prison. Clearly these black men who end up there made that decision. For this reason black men are not oppressed. Also, oppression exists within only one context. :yeshrug:
