That's my point, his trump card is always record sales. He great let benefited from that era because of the same music was made today those numbers would be nonexistent

Funny how the Coli always say this ain't shyt when the GOAT rapper conversation comes up though:francis:

We all know he's a great performer and made great music, but why does everyone act like there aren't just as good of performers out there, or better singers? Peoples trump card with Jackson is his record sales in the 80's. Honestly I think he greatly benefited from that specific time frame and era, just Clinton did in the 90's.

YES MICHAEL WAS GREAT, but to act like there aren't others on his level is crazy
NAME THEM

don't tell us JUST AS GOOD...

so all in one person i want to see your list of who sang as good, danced as good, choreographed as good (yes he made up his own shyt), produced as good (watch the oprah special, he made up a lot of melodies and beats), etc

name names

Prince >>>>>

Prime Prince was James Brown fused With Hendrix on steroids....
Prince was playing the drum, piano, guitars, dancing and singing LIVE...

Mike music was great, but what pushed him over the edge was the dancing in, and how he revolutionized music videos.... that still stand the test of time.

prince was the better musician... i'm not sure if he performances, dancing and singing was anything close to mike's... but mike couldn't play all the instruments like prince

so in that there's a trade off.... but most people would give you prince as the only answer... he was pretty much considered the man right next to mike on some kobe, 5 rings shyt

:wtf:
His music is somewhat exaggerated (Bad to me, is his worse album), but his performance ability and his voice is not...

Michael Jackson on the Bad Tour is fukking legendary.

Michael Jackson during the 70s with the Jacksons performing live is fukking legendary.

His music videos are legendary.

Only people that are on MJ's level when performing is James Brown and Elvis
Elvis???

He's the King for a reason.:what:
The reason he's known as the "King of Pop" is 100% inorganic - very similar to Jay Z's overinflated status of greatness. He released a music video that would debut simultaneously across all major networks and in order for these networks to get access to the video (and not lose out on viewers to their competitors) they were each required to refer to him as the "King of Pop" for a certain amount of times over a certain amount of weeks. Also they were forbidden from mentioning his name before or after discussing any bad news or negative topics because the indoctrinated human mind works in a very simple way . . . so ya, the more you know

Does that mean he's not deserving of the title? No. He'd certainly be a legitimate contender in the discussion but somebody with enough sense of what the pop world revolves around would make a good argument that Max Martin has the most significant claim to the title

Since I do make it a matter to educate you Coli folk whenever I see fit I can sometimes stray from the topic so . . . as for his greatness being exaggerated. Although I don't listen to his music often and I do have a high level of respect for his artistry. I don't wonder if his greatness is exaggerated but I sometimes I wonder if he was an angel/prophet/reincarnation of Christ

I usually enjoy reading your post but a few clarifications..Elizabeth Taylor coined that name and it was actually the king of pop rock and soul..MJ actually hated it so I doubt he would decree he be addressed as such..and if anything those networks went to him, he was the single biggest celebrity on the planet at his peak and speaking as someone who is old enough to remember him at his zenith any acclaim he gets is well deserved, he didnt make videos, he made short movies and those debuts were events in itself. When he dropped a video your whole family watched it. When it comes to music MJ sits alone as the real king in his own stratosphere no one will ever reach. Untouchable.
