Do you feel like the Thunder’s historic season is getting enough attention?

Nobody cares about Shai :manny:. He isnt beloved like Steph. He isnt loved and hated (but really loved just dont wanna admit it) like Bron. Also its football season and both have expanded postseasons. Basketball convos outside of messiness and individual greatness dont really pick up until Christmas and after all star.

They dont feel like a truly great team :yeshrug:

They don't have truly great players

SGA is a manufactured superstar. He's really good, but the flopping and elbowing he gets away with it makes him a superstar

and the supporting cast has good role players who are also being inflated because of the refs swallowing the whistle.

The Real Titletown
SGA is sensational and won an MVP, but they don't have a "superstar" in terms of marketability. They had Durant and Westbrook for years and people would always talk about them. It's not the same with SGA. That's not a knock on his skill, but he's not moving the needle like other stars.

Due to their rather boring and efficient style of play no ones going to pay attention until late into season and even morso if they go back to back and cement themselves as that the team of the decade

Also quiet as kept they don’t have that swaggerific black American superstar- same reason no one has cared about the last 5 NBA champions

I think compared to the ‘16 Warriors the difference is

A) 72-10 hadn’t been legitimately challenged in like 20 years so there was excitement for it. Must shorter turnaround now and since the Warriors didn’t win the title I think more ppl are apathetic about regular season win totals in general.

B) While the numbers are up there, SGA is nowhere near as box office as Steph. Arena would be damn near packed just with people coming to watch him warmup. He legitimately transcended the sport. SGA has nowhere near that pull.

C) The Warriors were also on a bit of a revenge tour after people spent the offseason discrediting their title win, calling it a fluke, they only won bc of injuries.

D) Even though the Warriors were dominating, them winning a title didn’t feel as inevitable as OKC’s is. Cleveland, San Antonio & OKC were all seen as viable opponents. OKC now seem closer to the ‘17 Warriors where it feels like the only thing that can stop them from a title is health
